In Broken Sword: The Angel of Death, gamers once again take the role of unwitting hero George Stobbart as he investigates dark secrets from a long-forgotten history. Uncovering a nefarious plot reignites an age-old rivalry between the world's most powerful factions, and exposes a secret that they have secretly fought over for millennia. A secret that will ultimately lead George's latest adventure to a painful and bitter conclusion.

Check the first 18 Broken Sword: The Angel of Death screens (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=33023) over at WorthPlaying.

I hope the gameplay is better than those screenshots.

The Sleeping Dragon was a great amount of fun. The voice acting and animation was really well done, and the story was pretty well thought out and presented. I hope that this one continues in that tradition. We need more adventure games!

I'm a big fan of the Broken Sword series. It's nice to see that it keeps on trundling along. What will George get up to next?! Silly, stupid George...

I'm no graphics whore, but that really does look quite appauling, both technically and artistically. It was pretty good in the last one, what's gone wrong?

Yeah thats my point. The Broken Sword series are known for good art but those screenshots are crappy.

My lord, those ARE ugly graphics. I never thought I'd quote myself, but:

2D = heaven. 3D = some kind of almost fun netherworld populated with boring people.

Why do developers insist on designing an ugly and unappealing game in 3D, especially when they have established a legacy (as it were) of stylish and attractive 2D games?

I can understand if the powers that be insist that the game goes 3D, but you'd like to think that the devs know that the game will be eviscerated because of the horrid graphics. Sadly, story and gameplay only takes us so far these days.

It's a shame they are compelled, for whatever reasons, to make the game in 3D. As someone who actually enjoys adventure games I'd much rather have a lavish 2D landscape than this horrible 3D. This has been going on forever though, just look at the Gabriel Knight series:

Gabriel Knight 1: Done entirely in well-drawn 2D, looked great considering it ran on a 386: Adventure games were still extremely popular.
Gabriel Knight 2: The FMV era. Oh dear.
Gabriel Knight 3: 3D. The game wasn't bad but would've been so much more fun in 2D.

The Broken Sword series has taken a similar route (thankfully skipping the FMV).

lol! I watched these just after the new crysis screens.
They are complete crap. Totally lacking the style of the former game. Some artists can pull of miracles with few pixels (like WOW) and they did with the last broken sword. Still I also remember the first screens coming out for the last game and they were pretty bad too.

2D is really great sometimes. I truly loved the Ultima Online 2D world. A shame no-one made something like it with better resolution. And in adventure games you have so many pitfalls that threaten the core gameplay when you make it 3D. I HATE the action running sequences or the "push pull some crates" puzzle. With 2D the artist could use the fact that all people watched the same screen - the puzzle difficulty were easily adjusted. With 3D you run around in 3rd person and can miss objects/clues easily if hidden. So they make them too obvious I think. I kinda felt the last one was an interactive movie (do this and we move on) with very few actual puzzles.

Ok I must be missing something, but whenever I see a link on Evil Avatar about screens on Worthplaying, I click the link and i see an article, never any screens. Where are the screen shots?
