Once again the weekend is upon us, and for some of us, we will be wrapped up in epic struggles. Some will be in a war (G.R.A.W), others in Oblivion, and for me, I will be saving the galaxy with Galatic Civ 2. Of course, the usual suspects for many of us, WoW, CoH/V. All gamer goodness is upon us. What are you playing this weekend, and what would you recommend?

I want to be playing Oblivion. But when I borrowed my friend's copy to see if my comp could handle it it crashed and died after managing to load just the heads up display against a white background.

For the first time in months I'm taking a breather from WoW (although my weekly guild raid is still on for Saturday night) and playing some Guitar Hero and possibly starting to replay some old PC games.

Suffering a bit of WoW burnout, so I will intermix some BF2 and possibly Warcraft 3.

I finally payed off my 600k mortgage in AC. Perfect timing since I just got Tetris DS & MPH. Those two games will suck up most of my weekend gaming time, although I just got Psychonauts last week, too, so I'm sure I'll play that.

Oblivion... looking to buy a house in-game tonight. One of the ones around 5000 gold. I need a place to store my stuff. I've been saving things since the beginning with only the sole purpose of "man, this would look cool displayed in my house". I have a Valara Stone I could of sold for decent money, but want to display it in my house. I also am planning on having a bowl filled with gold nuggets, and a bowl filled with silver nuggets.
And as soon as I finish collecting those Alyeid Statues for "the Collector" in exchange for good money, I'm so gonna break into his house and steal them back for display in mine.

Believe it or not, but I am replaying Thief: Deadly Shadows (XBOX). The game is not perfect, but it's still very enjoyable. Plus I just miss the series, since it's one of my all-time favorites.

I'm also picking up Daxter & Syphon Filter for the PSP tomorrow. Two all-original, highly acclaimed PSP titles to dig into. I can't wait!

I'm on gaming overload... too much good stuff right now, but if I have to make a prediction, I'll probably be playing Pacific Fighters, GalCiv2 (picked it up yesterday, yeah!), and Tribes: Vengeance singleplayer (finally getting back into it after a long hiatus from when I initially purchased it). Probably at least a smattering of BF2 and WoW in there too.

Everything. No, I'm not kidding. Desert Bash 4.0 is this weekend, and CS 1.6 and Source are major tourneys. Quake4, HL2 DM, WC3/FT, and whatever else we throw in the mix (everyone else will be playing Halo2, Mario Kart whicheverversionitisnow, Battlefield 2, and F.E.A.R.).

So im planning to put some serious time into it this weekend. Managed to do some of the tutorial this morning before work, and damn... Patrick Stewart is amazing ^^

I'm going to swing by one of the local stores and see what old computer gem I can pick up for $5-10. Something old enough that my laptop can handle it easily.

Although, games are probably going to be the last thing on my mind, as my copy of Dan Simmons' "Hyperion" finally (FUCKING FINALLY!!11!1) arrived today. I never thought I would go through this much trouble to get one book. I have faith in Kelegacy's recomendation though. It will be worth it.

HOpefully a whole lot of Oblivion on the 360. If not, I'll play it on the PC.

Since you own it for both platforms, which do you prefer?

On the PC side, I have a P4-3.2GHz, 1GB RAM, 256MB Radeon X800, and a 19" ViewSonic LCD (VP912b).

On the 360 side, I have a 60" Sony rear-projection LCD HDTV (XBR series), but my theater surround isn't hooked up atm, due to recent move. So, no Dolby Digital 5.1. :(

For those who have it for either platform (or both) and considering my set-ups, which do you recommend I get?

I played it on the xbox and on the pc. The advantage i noticed on the pc is the control scheme, wich is much more precise for interacting, shooting spells or arrows. And i managed to tweak the ini file enough to give me about 2x as much view distance without all the textures looking like blobs. On the 360 the view distance is still very small without the textures geting all messed up.

I'm playing it for the first time on PC. So far, I'm really enjoying it. I played quite a bit of The Dark Project some time ago, but found it a little intimidating and difficult -- especially since some of the levels are so huge. I tend to play in short little bits, say 20-30 minutes at a time, and found Thief tough to stay interested in because some of the levels seem to take hours to get through. So far, it seems that DS is a bit more playable than the the first one. It looks great too. I have Thief 2, but other than loading it up once to look around at the graphics, never really played it.

Oddly enough, after I finish up with DoW: Winter Assault (only have to get the Ork ending) Thief 3 is on my list for a reinstall. Maybe some Galciv 2: just got my retail box in the mail: downloaded it last week ;)

No WoW for me anymore, I quit.

Hmm, if you have an xbox 360, i would get oblivion for it. I find it especialy relxaing to play games on a wireless controler sitting on the couch, plus its a good reason for the 400$ invesment you made for your 360.

the main reason im playing it on the computer is because i enjoyed the modding scene so much on the previous title (morrowind). ^^

Edit: Be advised tho, the pc version will need some serious patching, dunno how the 360 version shapes up on that department, my experience playing it is limited.

Sweet. What's your thesis?

Doing the EvAv podcast tonight. Then Oblivion'ing the fuck out of my weekend here, believe it or not. I have the PC version, and I am ADORING it. Runs practically like butter, looks gorgeous, and has really intense, addictive gameplay. Tonight I'll probably spend most of the night dungeon-exploring and then, maybe eventually, get onto the Fighter's Guild questline finally.

I think I'm going to play video games all weekend long (plus a computer reformat), but I don't want to get into a rut. Thinking I need some sort of goal like 10+ games, or 2+ game per system, or 1 from several genres.

Maybe I can make it a Live Achievement weekend and try to get my gamer score over 2000.

2 problems:
1) I hate sports games (except Tennis and Boxing, oddly... they translate well)
2) Nobody in Tucson rents out 360 games yet... at least, not as of a couple of weeks ago.

I figure there has to be a good way of pulling a cool 1K points just by killing Mexicans all weekend.

Enjoying the SWAT4 expansion online COOP very much! I like the new double loaded stun gun that blasts further.

Plus brushing up on various vehicles and anti-aircraft weapons on single player BF2 servers. Of course, this means I'll be playing the snot out of AC:WW, Tetris DS and Advance Wars DS (with possibly some Mario & Luigi:PiT thrown in).

Tomorrow should see the arrival of my new gaming rig. I picked up Oblivion for the PC the other day, couldn't even begin to get it to run on this hunk of junk and went out and got the new PC that I've been waiting to get for the last 6 months. Elder Scrolls games always seem to equal a massive system upgrade/purchase for me.

DJ Max Portable (still)
Mega Man: Powered Up
Daxter (almost done)
Syphon Filter
Me n My Katamari (the controls are actually quite nice -- a lot cleaner than the analogs, once you get used to it)
GT4 (never picked it up)

Unfortunately, I've had a few hiccups with the new system. It is less than a day old, so it'll probably take a few days to track down and squish all the bugs, but I'm hoping that by next weekend I'll have the system working perfectly.

Oh, and this weekend was the weekend I got my head handed to me in Tetris DS over the Wi-Fi. I don't understand how I went from destroying my opponents to losing 8 games in a row of Push. I think people are playing with the Ghost Bricks on though. That, to me, is cheating.

A lot of Oblivion, a dash of Animal Crossing and a pinch of DoD Source.

P4 3.0 GHz system, 1 GB RAM, Geforce 6800GS 256MB vid card.

It's a lovely little system. It's just a matter of getting it all up and tweaked jussssst right.

When Oblivion is running properly it does look very nice.

No kidding. Especially concidering I went from a 1.6 GHz system with a Geforce 4400 to this.

Now that I've updated everything, Oblivion should (hopefully) work properly. I've got the latest Beta drivers, all the Win XP updates are done... *shrug*

WoW looked and ran nice, that's for sure. No problems with it and I played for over an hour tonight. Woo.

Of course WoW's pretty low on demands anyways. :) I didn't realize you played WoW! We must hook up in there when I re-up my subscription this summer.

Everything was fine. I ran Oblivion for a good hour and a half or so and had nary a problem. FEAR looked, sounded and ran just duckily as well.

Hooray for beta drivers!
