Gamasutra (http://www.gamasutra.com) has announced the winners (http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=8642) of the 6th Annual Game Developer Choice Awards, given out Wednesday night at GDC. Personally, these are my favorite awards. The finalists are nominated by IGDA members, similar to how most other industries hand out major awards. One can only hope that these fine people and games are the ones that inspire the industry in the coming years.

Good year award-wise for console games, I guess. Seems a few PC titles got criminally overlooked, though, IMO.

I finally picked up Psychonauts last week, and after only the first few hours, I'd definitely agree with "best writing." The game is brilliant.

Also similar to other industries, the majority of the titles performed poorly in the marketplace :(

How in the heck is Guitar Hero "innovative" when Konami's Guitar Freak has been doing the exact same thing for 11 mixes? +2 frets equals innovation? They even stole the jerking sensor feature.
