Gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6146408.html) is reporting that Ted Price of Insomniac revealed today after showing off their previously announced PS3 title (I-8, now known as Resistance: Fall of Man) a video clip showing the furry wombat and his robo-buddy running through a tunnel and out into a cityscape which apparently looked very "Coruscant-style".

Personally I'm far more psyched for this game. Yes, I can't get enough RnC s'plosions. -TT

Awesome news, love the R+C series, playing thru Up Your Arsenal currently, got it for $20 as a Greatest Hits game.

Then he hasn't played a Ratchet and Clank game. Best platformers (or whatever they should be called, too much hybrid stuff goin' on) in years.

QFT, Q for the fucking truth.

Ratchet and Clank games are amazingly fun, each one evolves a little bit further into action while keeping the platforming roots. Great writing. Hell, this may be the first PS3 game I give a crap about.

Technically since it was just revealed, the closest thing you could call it is Ratchet and Clank 4 for the time being. The other game is entirely different, it's that FPS they showed off last year at E3.

No no, they showed the I-8 game and announced it had a new name. Then after they finished up saying what they had to say about it Ted Price formally revealed via "sneek peak" footage, Ratchet and Clank 4 for the PS3.

I'm going to second that. R & C is hands down one of the most fun games I have played in at least 5 years. I would definitely consider buying the PS3 at launch for that.

BINGO!

Me too, I have really enjoyed the R&C games. Great fun to be had!
Always like the look of them too.

Hope they can continue the magic.

Yay, another derivative sequel to a second-rate franchise I don't care about!

Lemme know if and when there are some screens. Still waiting to see the PS3 in realtime. The first one to mention Killzone gets a bomb in the mail.

If he's doing that, he's a fucking retard. R&C is the premier platformer of this generation. They have the sales and the reviews to prove it....

Ratchet: Deadlocked doesn't count?

To me, it was part of the series in every way that mattered. Tiny Clank platforming sections were replaced by Clank blasting things with you in co-op, so he wasn't really absent from the game.

And yeah, this made my PS3 interest meter spike a bit. Holding onto Insomniac and Naughty Dog (assuming Daxter represents a return to sanity for them) will be a major asset for Sony. Let's just hope there's no further slippage for the PS3, though, as Insomniac has put out a R&C game in November of 2002-2005, and it'd suck for that Cal Ripken-esque streak to be broken by external factors.

For one, I'd take Jak and Daxter over Rachet and Clank. And I'd take Psychonauts over all of 'em.

You have some pretty shit taste, then. I'll give you Psychonauts, but it's never going to be a franchise. Great game, though. But Jak and Daxter? After the first I started caring less and less about the series. The new Daxter game looks to be really sweet, though, especially since they got rid of Jak. But anyway, the Ratchet games have been of a quality unseen in this generation's platformers.

And that includes Mario.

Yeah, I agree with the R&C love here. I'm a huge fan of platformers and each R&C game has gotten better and better.

I'm curious as to if Insomniac will be building their own engine for PS3 R&C games. They used Naughty Dogs Jak engine for the PS2 games. I would like to see what they can do with R&C with their own engine.

Is Deadlocked as good as the other R&C games? It feels like Sony's attempt to make the series "angsty" like they did when they raped Jak & Daxter.

Uh, so this (http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/914659.asp?q=ratchet) is what a second rate franchise looks like (http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/919902.asp?q=ratchet) eh? 92% on Gamerankings for GC and UYA are impressive whichever way you try to bend it. You lose.

Nah, not at all. It's got the usual humor and satire. It is more combat-oriented, but then they nailed combat. Play it co-op for the best experience, that's a really good time.

I enjoyed Ratchet: Deadlocked, while Jak 2 was one of the few games that I've taken back to the store, if that's any indication.

Yeah, baby. I played UYA over the weekend and remembered that my previous game completions were on there. I mean, how can you NOT complete a Ratchet game? I remember when I bought the first, directly after college in summer 2003, when it was a greatest hits title. I will never forget when I started grinding on those rails with the grind boots. I found myself smiling like I was on a rollercoaster. I hardly ever smile or exclaim out of joy in videogames these days. I knew I had found an excellent game when I started baring my pearly whites.

R&C are very good but Deadlocked was way too short. I would prefer a long game with ultra weapons at the end, rather than having to play through the game again to see the really neat weapon. Still a great franchise none-the-less.

You took Jak-2 back? WTF? That was a great game.

I beg to differ, Kelegacy - I've played all R&C games and been underwhelmed by them all. Which reminds me, I need to trade them in soon.

Don't get fussy with me, fitbabits!

And I apologize if I offended. Wasn't my intent. I love the Ratchet games and when I like something, I am usually a bit crazy about other people not liking it. But you are right, opinions are like tastes. I hate mushrooms and cottage cheese. But people can like them if they want.

(though I secretly hate those people and want to burn their shorthairs with kerosene)

Uh yeah...whoever said the R&C series is a "turd" would have to very much so bias against it. How or why, is beyond me...I can't see them (at least the second and third) being dissapointing to a gamer of any caliber or how jaded. In fact, if you can play the second one and not be entertained...I kinda feel sorry for you.

I for one don't really play any 3d platformers and the R&C series is probably one of my favorites, news that it will be continuing is just awsome.. I bought the first one based on my liking the second one- and there is such a vast improvement between the first and second...you can really tell they spent alot of time making the game better in almost all ways imaginable. The thrid is also damn good. I have yet to get the 4th.

again, awsome news.

The thing that sells me on this series is definitely the writing. There is some great satire and humor in general in the series, and though it occasionally misses, it never does so by a wide margin (the way so many other games do by an embarassing degree when they make an attempt). But I still haven't found time to play UYA or Deadlocked. Both are definitely in the post-thesis "must play" list (if I'd just quit reading EA so much and actually work on the damn thing I could be done by now).

However, I have to take odds with Kelegacy's statement that they have taken the crown from the Mario series. In terms of quantity, certainly, but you give me three more games of the quality of Sunshine (admitedly the weakest in the series), and I'll take those over the Ratchet series, even with the crappy camera problems.

Quite simply, sales don't mean *jack* to me. If he only said ''reviews'', I'd have no problem, with that. If sales equalled (sp?) quality, then 50 Cent would be better than, say, The Arcade Fire.

Boo!

Sure, R&C didn't change it's core mechanics between titles, but it remains one of the funniest and best-told videogame series ever.

This is great news to me. Gives me one more reason to want a PS3. . . you know, eventually. . . after a price drop, etc.

Ratchet > Sunshine
Sunshine < Rest of the Mario series

Thus, Ratchet beats Mario this generation--not overall, just these handful of years for the current consoles, but that's because Mario was only in one platformer. Heck, Tak probably beat out Mario. Ha. Sunshine was very weak, though very pretty. I wasn't happy, just frustrated with that title.

No, see, the point your are missing is that you cannot slice up his argument to make "sales" and "reviews" divisible. They are taken into account together, to say it was both a critical darling and had support of the public. Your argument is not valid.

I know enough to know that those who claim to know what real food tastes like don't really know what real food tastes like. Know what I mean?

Besides, anyone who like mushrooms needs to have a good, hard look at themselves in a mirror. See that bump on the top of your head? I don't have one, therefore mushrooms are to blame for your 'problem'.

Sorry, but I'm still going to file this under "Whatever". Note that I am *not* saying the game is bad, and that it doesn't deserve a great follow-up in the future... I'm just saying that sales do not affect my opinion of a game in the least. Anyway, moving on...

Going Commando contains my favorite joke from a video game. Enough to identify it without spoiling it: it's from a cinematic where R&C land on a planet and see the villain is already leaving. One of them asks why they're always too late. I think it's the smartest joke I've seen in a videogame.
