Over on Shacknews (http://www.shacknews.com) an artist for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion put up his thoughts (http://www.shacknews.com/ja.zz?id=11817412) on the development process of the game, and also talks about some other things. It's certainly an interesting read.
I enjoyed reading this. It looks like the people working at Bethesda are great guys (and girls) that genuinely care about their games and their fans.

Very interesting introspective. If he's a typical Bethesda employee, I think we're all in for a good ride today! And maybe a few days after that too. :)

A great read. Some choice quotes:
I spent the entirety of last month - and I mean the entirety, working on downloadable content for Oblivion. I'm talking 12+ hours a day, 7 days a week for a month solid. This was just after crunch for TESIV too. Why? I simply want whatever work I do and put into this game, and any game, to be the absolute fucking best it possibly can be. You all deserve that without question, and no less. I certainly desire the same out of the games I am passionate about.
I just want at least one person - one person out there on this fucked up, wobbling piece of rock that loves games, that is fed up with all of the bullshit in day to day life, fed up with all of the assholes out there that climb all over each other to get 'ahead', or take their loved ones for granted, or can't see past their own nose to empathize with each other on a human, person-to-person level. I know there's at least one person out there who will see the hard work that we, and that other companies do while making these virtual worlds and sigh to themselves - At last, someone else out there understands.
The reviews coming in for the game (which you will probably see in a short while) have all been phenomenal - across the board. Probably the highest we've ever seen in the company's 20 year history. Certainly the highest I've seen for an RPG in many, many years. It's weird having your life's work for the past 3+ years trivialized with just a few numbers, but it's been oh-so gratifying this time around. Heck, even the strategy guide is ranked in the top 100 of all of Amazon's books. That's unheard of for any strategy guide.
With all that said, do you know what I still want to do? What the first thing I'm going to do Tuesday night when I get home? Fire up the blasted game and play...
No shit.
Refreshingly hyperbole free!

I miss kathode.... I know he used to be on these boards. I feel the game may have killed him.

Gamestop gave me a call yesterday with an automated message telling me my copy of oblivion would be available today. It was done in classics simpsons like fashion with a female voice saying "your copy of of", then a geeky male voice saying "oblivion". It was hilarious, but then again its been a while since I used a physical store for this type of thing.

I still read the site and post every now and then. Even with Oblivion out, I'm much busier these days than I used to be, so I can't jump into the thick of thread battles as readily anymore :)

I'm hoping they approach Fallout 3 with the same level of commitment, and passion.
I'm really hoping that Fallout 3 lives up to the franchise. God knows Interplay did its best there, before they went under, to fuck up the series.

While I may not be a big fan of these type of expansive games, I still bought the game and the strategy guide for people like kathode and the dude that posted on Shacknews. You are great people that deserve the recognition and praise that everyone deserves when working as hard and diligently as you people have done. Great stuff man, keep on truckin.
Also. Make Fallout 3 really, really, really good...mmkay? :)

Really enjoyed the read and can't wait till i get the game midnight tonight (360 launch in Australia). Wasted so much of my life on Morrowind and have a feeling that relationship problems will rear their ugly head real soon when i cant tear myself away from oblivion
