I've been hearing about quite a number of stores getting it in as early as 3pm today.

Which ones? I just called my Gamestop and they already got their delivery today, no Oblivion included. I was told to pick it up tomorrow afternoon.
I know Gamestop, others as well, don't know which specific geographical locations. Just reading other boards where people called and were told they'd be available today.

I'm seriously not trolling here, but I have never been excited about this game. Does anybody have a good reason (it's obvious how pretty it is) why this game will intrigue me into the 20th and 30th hour of gameplay? Granted, never played any of the other Elder Scrolls and I'm not the biggest RPG player, but I loved KOTOR, Deus Ex (1 only), System Shock, some of Jade Empire, some others that don't come to mind.

A huge dynamic beautiful world to explore and take whatever path you would like? Interesting and diverse NPC's and quests. That right there is enough for me.
It's really nothing like any of those games(in some cases thankfully). It's a huge world that's basically a sand box with nearly unlimited things to do, and a central path down the middle of it that serves as the main quest and your way to complete the game. Granted this based on past Elder Scrolls games, obviously haven't played Oblivion.

KOTOR is more story-driven and straightforward... Oblivion is like a MMORPG, but with a story, and only npcs. If you're not the biggest RPG player, you might not like it after the 20th or 30th hour.
I'm a little surprised at how much excitement Oblivion's release has generated. I thought I was one of the few waiting with bated breath; its claim to fame is as a hard-core RPG game. I expect a lot of people to try it out for a while, and eventually shelve it. Let's face it -- how many people that played and enjoyed Morrowind actually finished it? I was the only one in my fraternity.
That said, I still think it's a good purchase, even if you might shelve it eventually. If it offers 20 hours of enjoyment, that's usually worth the purchase price for other games.

Oblivion is like a MMORPG,
That's exactly why I disliked Morrowind, it plays like an offline MMORPG.

I started it from scratch three seperate times, but never finished it because I eventually lost interest.
Still good fun, although the monster AI was very bad and I hated the cavern quests.

Morrowind is one of the few games I have beaten 5 or 6 different times. It held my attention and always had something new in store for me.

I state the same. The amount of orgasmic comments I've seen on EA lately must mean it's a Good Thing. I don't know how many times I've had to rub the juice from my eyes after all the gushing comments here.
I may give it a try, but I wasn't all that thrilled with III. Well, I was, but the hack, hack, hack, hack just didn't appeal to me (which is weird because I kind of like that stuff).
I really do hope it delivers but I'll be waiting for some DS love for sure. I guess my priority is different.

Good game, and I'd be happy to see Bethesda stop making these clips.
Now that it's out, I can't wait for Dark Messiah.

think GTA with unicorns
P.S. my loins are afire for this game
I have to say, the whole "clip a day" thing has worked wonders on me. Coming from someone who only half enjoyed the first game (skipped the main quest but did about every side one) the clips and numerous previews from the major game sites has gotten me pretty hyped for all of the traveling (horses!) and random looting across Tamriel.
And maybe I just didn't pay enough attention... but what exactly was the main Morrowind storyline about? I couldn't make heads or tails of it. Anyone else have that problem or am I just showing off my lack of observation skills?

That Day 1 clip was just a waste of time. What was it supposed to be? Who knows! Oh, look, it's red...burning, maybe fire? Oh, no, wait, zooming out, a kettle! Someone is making a stew. But way over cooking it. No, wait, fire all over the place now. Someone's kitchen is totally on fire! Danger! Maybe I can actually tell if they zoom out just a bit more.........but......no, it's been 13 seconds, and the credits are rolling.
WASTE OF TIME.
You'd think for the final day of preview movies we'd get something good. I'm so glad we don't have to watch anymore of those clips.
I'll totally forgive you, Bethesda, if Oblivion runs on my BFG6800 Ultra OC! Totally forgiven! Please let it run!
Bring on the game!

I've heard some terrible things about the draw distance, can anyone confirm that? I was really interested in this game until I heard that the game can't keep up with player movement as far as draw in is concerened.

If it really ended up being something like GTA with Unicorns, I could see being into it. However, GTA seemed to be VERY story based with a pretty tightly controlled sandbox. I played WOW during the beta period last year and enjoyed, but not enough to start plunking down 10 bucks a month. I don't do other MMORPGs either.
I guess I'll have to be happy with my FPSs, flying sims, Animal Crossing, Katamaris, arcade classics, racing sims and new Mario.
It's silly that I can get into Animal Crossing enough that I LITERALLY (note correct usage) play it every single day... have to, or the red turnips wither... but I can't get into an MMORPG or even most RPGs. I haven't played a Final Fantasy since 1.
Edit: Oh, and Boxing and Tennis games...

Ditto, I love this series, and even though it'll beat the living hell out of my shitty X700 Pro I'll still play it till my eyes bleed. Also I have Weds and Thurs off from school, so nothing but playing for me all week.
I'm a little surprised at how much excitement Oblivion's release has generated. I thought I was one of the few waiting with bated breath; its claim to fame is as a hard-core RPG game.
It was pretty much the same with Morrowind. I think the fact that their next game is getting the same response is proof positive that by and large they met their lofty expectations the last time around.

GTA is tic tac toe in comparison.
There is really no game out there you can draw comparisons too, the EQs and WOWS being the closest. But this is a single player game, relative to a MMRPG the world is much more active and vibrant with more things to do.

My only problem with Morrowind was that in the beginning of the game (the first few towns, and a good bit into the main quest) everything seemed so 'alive' and fresh. But eventually, toward the end, this ran out and the sidequests were much more intriguing. But after finishing them it was annoying to find your place in the main narrative again. But it was still a fun game and worth the time/money. Especially if you consider all the fun addons they were put out. Let's hope they've kept it up to the end this time. (Though I'm sure they have.)

Thursday if you live in the UK and preordered from Gameplay.co.uk with 1st class delivery (costs 99p). I've always received my games a day earlier than release when I have done so with them.

The only interesting thing I've found so far in the constuction set is all of the global variables. With settings like arrow mass and ten different sneak attacks, I can see some real depth available for those who are of the modding type.

I have yet to receive my phone called from gamestop telling me that it will be available tomorrow. it's odd because they usually will have called by now. I went to an EB games to check on a rumor from a different thread about some stores getting it early and the guys behind the counter told me that (unlike the rumor) the game did have a street date of tomorrow so even if they had it, they couldn't (wouldn't) sell it.
So help me ebgames, if that game is not in your shelves at 9am tomorrow morning, I will rain down plague, pain, and destruction with the wrath of an angry god.
I've spent the last three days pre-emptively doing homework so i can have a blissfull four hours tomorrow. I might just choke someone if it doesnt arrive until late tommorrow.

Oh, and it does NOT have a street date. Just in case someone was wondering. EA games are actually the only ones with street dates thanks to Wal-Mart. EA caved in to pressure from them on that issue.

Its probalby some plot significant thing that might wow us in some minor way if had already played the game.
In other words, lame.

Tomorrow my social life is put to a halt.
I don't know about you guys, but I loved Morrowind. I played it like none other when it first came out, I beat the original and its two expansions, doing a great many side quests, exploring, and claiming of lives. TES3 was really something. I can't wait for tomorrow to come so I can grab this. See ya later real life!
