I gotta say, the whole 'downloading demos' on the 360 is really, really sweet. It MAY even offset the cost of a $60 if I can try it first.

Retailers must hate it though. I often find myself NOT buying a game right away since I know if I hold out long enough a demo will be available. I was burned on Perfect Dark Zero, paying $60 for a trashy game. Never again.

I'm in complete agreement. I only wish I were able to initiate downloads from work. We can dream, i guess... or I could attempt to write a Media Center app to do just that. Yuck.

What really bugs me is the inability to do background downloading while I'm playing a Live Arcade game or something like that. Apart from that, the Live experience is amazing.

I have a wife at home that I can call up and get her to start downloading demos for me :-)

Too bad her maternity leave is over in 9 more months :-(

I'm with Zanzibar as well. Why the hell can't the dashboard handle downloads while we do other stuff like play an arcade game? It seems like it's coded to allow for that, but for some reason the download cancels as you go off to do something else.

Heck, why can't it handle multiple, staged downloads? Why can't I setup my 360 to wake up, and check for demos I've flagged for download in advance. WHY CAN'T IT MAKE ME COFFEE (I don't drink coffee, but programmers all know this joke yes?).

Truth.

I absolutely love what the 360 has done with XBox Live, but that seems like a massive oversight, especially when you consider the Live system is always running whether you're playing a game over it or not.

Burnout demo gets me hot, like in that "I'd like to be sandwiched between some disturbingly good looking men and smothered in syrup creating the sexiest stack of man-pancakes ever created," kind of way. p.s. I like burnout.

Burnout is crack, pure and simple. Very smooth online play too from what I've experienced so far.

I've only played Burnout 1 and 2, never touched it after that. Played this demo, and loved it!! I'm thinking about buying it now. Any suggestions as to if I should, or should I go for a cheaper older one? (On a side note, I ahve game credit I can use to get it, so I won't pay anything.)

I tried 3 but was really put off since it seemed to be much more focused on the crashing instead of the racing.

Burnout 2 was about speed and NOT crashing. The crashing-for-fun was a separate crash minigame. Burnout 3 had other card crashing into me ON PURPOSE, a big turn off. I want to race, to go fast, not play demolition derby.

I can remember friends coming over and playing Burnout 2 on the projector, when someone was in the zone, getting burnout after burnout, slipping between traffic, there was collective breath-holing in anticipation.

I couldn't care less about Live on the Xbox, but the Live Marketplace and Live silver features built into the 360 are great. Demos are finally worth downloading again, a Red vs Blue clip, arcade games that are actually very fun to play, friend info, achievements... MS did some nice things this time around.

This demo doesn't do the full game justice. It's "nice", but only has 1 track, 1 car and 1 mode. There's SO MUCH MORE to the game and Live multiplayer is where Burnout's at. It's like CRACK!

I came away impressed and I am not a burnout fan. A rental is coming shortly.
