According to this small news snippet (http://www.gamecloud.com/article.php?article_id=4035) on Gamecloud (http://www.gamecloud.com), Electronic Arts' much-anticipated (!) game based on the Godfather series of movies has already been leaked and is available on various Torrent sites.
Bad news for EA again. Just weeks after Black was leaked onto the Internet, yet another EA game has been leaked this time it's The Godfather.
EA's game adapation of the classic movie has been spotted on various Torrent Sites with the PC, XBOX and PS2 versions, as well as XDCC aggregation sites.
Shocking! If the culprit is found, someone is about to receive an offer they can't refuse.

Even if it wasnt leaked a day early, it would be up the first day or the day after. Its hard to stop something like this from happening

That's not even really news considering it happens with just about every game.
Note: Also, considering the fact that most stores have actually had the game in their inventory since last friday.

I really thought they started cracking down on the pirated versions before release. However, it seems there has been a resurgence (at least agianst EA lol!)

EA has always had a problem with unreleased titles being leaked.
You would think that by now, after all these years and titles, they'd be able to figure out who was doing this.

And remember, Oblivion has been in a gold state longer than Godfather and there are still no official leaks on Oblivion.
So someone's doing something right, somewhere.

When will the pirates learn? Electronic Arts games are not worth the effort, or the bandwidth!

News posts like this only promote pirating.
Extra bonus: Embarrasses Electronic Arts.
Unwanted side effect: Makes technologies like Starforce seem more palatable to developers.
I think I'm going to have to go with Zawath on this one. Why post stories like this one?

I be starforce is leaking these EA games in a plot to take over the world.
Seriously, starforce is not run by russians, but two small, white, genetically altered lab mice bent on world domination. Starforce is just the way they will fund the purchasing of an old ICB and two billion dollars worth of mirrors to turn the sky into a giant hypnotic disco ball.

I can't believe anti-pirating technologies even try anymore. Every new idea they try ends up being a challenge to pirate groups. "Look, now our shit is unstoppable!" and it still ends up being cracked in a day or two.
I've learned from experience, the worst people to challenge are bored pirates with nothing better to do all day.

Get used to it. I've been arguing this for forever. It'll never stop.
Sometimes you have to just watch people be stupid and accept it as part of the cost of living. As far as I can tell, your simplest copy-protection (the kind that stops you from popping it in your computer and using NERO to just copy the whole disc to a blank) is all you need. The people who want to exert more effort than that to copy software are going to take the extra 5 minutes to find the ISO / DL a crack. But whatever, ultimately the farce will continue forever.

from the screenshots i've seen, it looks like GTA in a different time period, personally i'll pass, even for free.
This is hardly news. It happens everyday.
No game, movie or piece of software is immune. Everything is pirated.

Electronic Arts never gets that game! That game is perfect for them, it'll make them a big star, and I'm gonna run them out of the business - and let me tell you why: Electronic Arts ruined one of Woltz International's most valuable proteges. For five years we had her under training - singing lessons, acting lessons, dancing lessons. I spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on her, I was gonna make her a big star. And let me be even more frank, just to show you that I'm not a hard-hearted man, and that it's not all dollars and cents: She was beautiful; she was young; she was innocent. She was the greatest piece of ass I've ever had, and I've had 'em all over the world. And then Electronic Arts comes along with their olive oil voices and guinea charms, and she runs off. She threw it all away just to make me look ridiculous! And a man in my position can't afford to be made to look ridiculous!

fitbabits - Should a story that really promotes piracy be on the front page?
I mean. . . well it's totally news, but I think it also may be irresponsible reporting.
Also, it happens a lot. Oblivion is available by torrent right now too.

Posts like this do not encourage pirating, if someone wants to pirate a piece of software, music, etc. it's very easily done. I agree with the "how is this newsworthy?" sentiment however, as every major new game gets pirated, many are available for download shortly after they go gold, the fact that The Godfather managed to avoid being readily available for illegal download until 24hrs prior to release is a feat if anything.

Posts like this help the terrorists. ZOMG!
Anyone up on torrent sites knows this shit has been out for a week. Just like doom being available a week before official release, this IS news. News posts about the existence of piracy doesn't promote piracy, you mopes.

I don't believe the story is in any way promoting piracy. Do stories reporting about racial intolerance, homophobia, sexism, etc. promote any of those egregious acts?

Hah, this looks like a complete shit-in-a-plastic-case anyway, so I'm secretly laughing at everyone who wastes 2 minutes to find the torrent for it.

Well, it promotes it for ME.
I hate waiting for games and knowing that I can get them earlier if I'm willing to steal them makes me really, really want to steal them. I haven't done so because I feel like if I ever steal one game I would totally just become the biggest PC game pirate ever. . . and then I'd eventually get caught and end up in jail. . . but I SOOOO want to do it.
Someone downplay piracy as "try before you buy" again so I can use that to erode my personal moral boundaries on the subject please. :)
I wish game developers would finally just get a system like Steam and let me download these and pay for them when they go gold instead of having to choose to wait or steal.
*sigh*
While I hate waiting, I DON'T steal. It isn't who I want to be. . . so I've already made my choice on this, but this brings up the whole subject in my head again.
I've been having this argument with myself for a while now. . . about Space Rangers 2 (it's been out in Europe for ages and thus I could have downloaded it and played it in English for months now).
I also have the moral dilemna of not wanting to support a developer that uses Starforce, but I am still super intrigued by this game. I very nearly downloaded it while telling myself that I'd do this to "try before I buy". That way I wouldn't give the company that supports Starforce any money unless there game is totally kick ass. . .
but I didn't.
I don't steal.

I have seen copies of Oblivion floating around already but not via torrent. I can't tell you if they are actually working copies, though. I'm not taking the trouble to download something that I am gladly going to pay money for tomorrow.

Well, there was an Oblivion torrent up, as I recall, only they killed the seed, so the farthest anyone got on it was like, 5%.

I think it would be interesting to know... how many people doggedly looked for a 'scene' release over the weekend AND have already payed for oblivion in full?
