Ubisoft's March 9 release of Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter blasts it way to the no. 2 spot in the top 10 most-played Xbox Live games list, according to users logged on.

Xbox Live director of programming Larry "Major Nelson" Hyrb reports on his popular blog the top 10 Live games of last week. Halo 2 is still the reigning champ, with the free demo of The Outfit still hanging around for a second week, as Madden 06 falls from the list.

Here's the rest of the list in its entirety:

3. Call of Duty 2
4. EA Sports Fight Night Round 3
5. Perfect Dark Zero
6. Dead or Alive 4
7. Project Gotham Racing 3

I know that all Xbox 360 titles are 'Live Aware', but this is yet another feather in UbiSoft's cap.

Awesome game, and great fun on Live. But it really pisses me off that you sometime have to wait forever trying to to join a game. Last night it took me about 40 minutes to finally get to see something else than a game list, lobby or the first menu.

seeing how there's so few games on the 360, i would suspect that almost ANYthing that gets released will end up in the top 10. the gamers are starved for something to make their $400 seem worth it.

While I agree, I would not state it like that. Any big game will jump up on the list, but it is not from being starved. I have had my 360 since the launch month and have yet had time to play all the games. In fact, I want the launch games to drop in price so I can pick them up (achievements...).

perhaps that is the case for you, but the average gamer doesn't pick up EVERY game released, they pick up the ones they think are good, and that is very few right now, for most gamers.

Dude.. that list consists of XBox and 360 games, so it is quite impressive that GRAW makes number 2. Also it is the best selling Ubi game ever! I am sure Ubi is totally unhappy with the 360 love.

The 360 has got some great titles out for it already.

Anyways I think Halo 2 is going to be no1 for a very long while, maybe till Halo 3 comes out. Oh but then again how about Gears of War?

While I'm a fan of the X360, I have to agree that the competition for getting on this list isn't that great if a demo and/or a beta release is making the top 10 most played online games.

Actually, the Outfit Demo is at #9. . . so, yeah. . .

Anyway, you can totally expect that this close to the release of a system. I'm pretty impressed with how many titles are coming out for the X360, but I know that is going to dry up between late May to early September (as it will for all systems).

Those are the top Xbox Live games, not Xbox 360 live games. That is why BF 2 for the Xbox and Halo 2 for the Xbox are up there.

Does anyone find it strange that Halo 2 is the only original xbox game on that list? I guess I can buy that most of the crowd that adopted the 360 immediately are the same that play on live a lot, but it still seems strange that no popular original xbox game like Battlefront 2, PGR2, Rainbow Six 3, etc. is on that list.
