Another week, a very special Weekly Release. There are some real gems this week. If you are a 360 owner or a Nintendo DS owner, prepare thy wallet because there are 2 titles on both systems you'll need to invest in. First up, on the Nintendo DS we have Metroid Prime: Hunters. This looks to be a solid FPS. Lets not forget the almighty Tetris: DS as well. Both feature Nintendo Wi-Fi multiplayer.
For the XBox 360, there is a little known titled called The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. It's going to be good. No, it's going to be fucking good. Can I say fuck on the front page? I think you I can when it concerns Oblivion. The Big O is also coming out on PC, which should be mod-o-licious. On top of that we have the ever gorgeous Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII. The fierce dogfighting action will also be showing up on the original XBox.
PSP owners get some loving to this week with a bunch of new titles. Most notably is Me and My Katamari , the first and most likely only portable version of the game.

I really want to pick up Tetris DS and Metroid Prime: Hunters, but I've got so much on my plate. That and MGS3:Sub are the three games that I want currently, and KH2, which I'll probably wait on.
I just got into Tetris, a friend of mine brings his GBA SP and the original to school. He is nuts at it.

Oh boy, Tetris DS. I've been waiting a long time for that.
To think, now I can play Tetris on a portable device. What a world we live in.
:D
On a less sarcastic note, there is nothing of real interest this week except for that other game whose name we all know. I am slightly curious about Me and My Katamari but I think I'll find a rental of its PS2 equivalent first.

Yes, yes I am. :)
Actually, Sudoku is very addictive. A game on the PSP might actually be worth it but I couldn't see playing without a number key pad.

Damn. An expensive week. I'd love to hear what some EvAvers have to say about MP: Hunters. Does it work as a game? As a Metroid game? Is it better than the god-awwful MP2: Echoes?

Yeah, by that, I'm sure you can guess what I'm looking forward to. I'll probably also pick up Sukoden V at some point, probably when I get paid next week, as I'm addicted to the series. Still, I should be able to get Oblivion when I get off of work tonight. That will be all good.

Getting Oblivion. . . I'll be watching "The Godfather" PC and Suikoden V reviews eagerly to see if either of them are any good too.
I'd probably go overboard and buy one of these two outright, but they'll probably be renters just due to all the games coming out NEXT week. . . (Kingdom Hearts 2, Space Rangers 2 - must buys) and a crap ton of games to be rented through Gamefly too: Rumble Roses XX, Far Cry Instincts Predator, Dynasty Warriors 5 Empires, and Blazing Angels (may be over-rated, but worth renting since I have a rental service).

I already posted this in the Oblivion thread, but in case someone missed it: CompUSA has $15 instant saving on Oblivion 360, bringing it down to $45. Collector's Edition is still $70. PC version is $40. I hope they will continue doing that for 360 games.

No, the collectors edition was $10 more. The list price for Oblivion for the XB360 is $60, just like other XB360 games. The list price for the collector's edition of Oblivion is $70. See, $10 difference.

Plus, most people (especially the EvAvers) have already pre-ordered the game. The Comp USA deal is coming pretty late to the game, and I for one won't cancel my preorder to save a couple bucks. Frankly, I have my doubts about how many copies they'll have in stock.
I bet they'll carry a limited amount of the $45 version, but have shittons of CE's laying around....at $70 a pop.

This week is murder. Oblivion, Tetris, Metroid, Metal Gear Acid, (maybe) Blazing Angels, and (maybe) GRAW, if I like what I demo. And I just picked up MGS3 Subsistence. Ugh. Was. Now it is 25 bucks more, if this place and others honor the deal. A CE is supposed to be chock full of goodies, hence the reasoning for spending more. This CE is a limp attempt to siphon more money from you blind crazies. And it's working. Gamers aren't the smartest demographic of humanity.

It releases today, but unless you live in a metropolitan era, you won't see it until tomorrow. The release date with videogames is actually the date that they are shipped from distributors to retailers.
I have no idea why they are not shipped prior to the release date and held by retailers until release like other types of media.

Yep. You can always pick up any game without a preorder. Just go to Target. Or any other store that isn't EBGames and Gamespot.
Lots of great releases this week. Oblivion's at the top of the list, but I can't get it for at least a few more months. I'll be looking into Tetris DS and Metroid Prime Hunters in the meantime.

Yep. You can always pick up any game without a preorder. Just go to Target. Or any other store that isn't EBGames and Gamespot.Yeah, I used to be a big preorder freak but I've found that it's not really necessary. You can almost always find a popular game somewhere upon release without a preorder. So many other places carry games that I find it hard to believe that every retailer in any area would be completely out of stock on day 1. But game stores are always pushing it because, I suppose, it makes their numbers look good.
Just the other week I picked up Metroid Prime Pinball for my DS, and the kid behind the counter kept pushing Hunters at me. He basically sounded like: "If you have any interest in it at all, you should preorder. Zomg, preorder or you'll nevar find it!1!!one" I'm kind of waiting on reviews for Hunters (didn't get a demo with my DS) before I pick it up anyway, since I enjoy Metroid for the single player and don't often get online with my DS.. But I'd put money on being able to pick up a copy tomorrow (or whenever it hits shelves) if I really wanted to.

Let me clarify the blanketed statement. I meant that most people on EA have either pre-ordered the game, OR made mental preparations on where they'll pick up the game locally tomorrow. I guess I meant that people on EA have at least mentally pre-ordered Oblivion. :)
The Comp USA deal sounds good, but like I said before, I have my doubts about their quantities, and even when they plan on stocking the shelves.
I went to my local BB about an hour ago, and they had the following:
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion in stores Wednesday, March 22nd!

I hate being pushed to pre-order.
Every single time I walk into one of those stores and pick something up the person at the register always feels the need to ask me if I want to pre-order anything, and when I reply "no, thank you" they then feel justified in spewing out a list of games coming out that I already said I don't want to pre-order.
I have a locally owned shop I prefer to get my games at, and they never ask you to preorder, they just put sign on the cash register that says if you want something pre-ordered ask the sales clerk. I am hoping that this will be where I can get the game come thursday.

I've created a massive goddamned train wreck in my gaming queue. A sudden re-re-addiction to Lucasarts' X-Wing Collector's Edition accompanied by girlfriend attention-time has meant I bought GRAW but haven't cracked the case yet. That means Oblivion and Blazing Angels come this week. I'm concerned if I open GRAW this week, then I'll be too hooked to play Oblivion or Blazing Angels.

So, as much as I want to buy Oblivion, I'm not sure that my computer can handle it. I might be high on acid, but didn't there used to be a site you could go to called "www.canmycomputerrunit.com" or something along those lines, where they'd have a number of games to select? Then, it would check your hardware and see whether or not your computer can handle it?

Of course, that just confirmed that my creaky old PC doesn't pass muster with regards to being able to play Oblivion. Sob. I don't even make it to the minimum requirements!
