1up (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3178193) reports that since a new Call of Duty title is to be developed by Sledgehammer Games, lead by Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey, both of whom worked on Dead Space, it may be the long rumored Call of Duty in space.
Numerous websites in the past (including our own E.A. (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55196)) have posted about this particular rumor, but now with a new developer and new focus on "extending the franchise into the action-adventure genre", does this mean the long rumored game will actually become reality?
Are you ready for Call of Halo?

Um... no. The fact that those guys worked on Dead Space in no way implies that the game takes place in space or is Sci Fi.
In fact, it is probably the fact that Infinity Ward wanted to go in a Sci Fi / Space direction that probably killed the company.
I wouldn't mind if this was true, I just have my doubts.

What tickles my fancy is, the dead space guys are perfectly content to let a lesser studio completely FUCK over the IP they worked hard to establish.....
Then they are perfectly content to circle the carcass of CoD picking up with the best they have to work with, a rotting corpse.
Is is just Activision's standards that are low, or are Sledgehammer's equally depraved?

An Undersea FPS is just about the only new ground left to the universe :P

COD in space would be the only way I'd be interested in this now boring yearly military shooter # 7 again.
Better yet, make it COD Duck Hunt and Trap Shooting edition.

In space, no one can hear you scream about lack of dedicated servers.

Am I the only one who's suspicious that this is just one, incredibly ornate, early April Fools joke? I'm referring to everything that's happened involving Infinity Ward and Activision over the last couple days.
I mean, this shit is straight outta a bad soap opera.

Between that and the Portal saga I have given up television all together. Real life is proving to be far more interesting.

This has almost been taken over too. Bioshock has gotten really close to conquering this. A fight in the water would be interesting. A shark would come up from behind and kill you while you are shooting down an enemy.

I thought everyone agreed that underwater sequences were one of the worst things in video games ever.
I'm hopping for a futuristic CoD, in a setting like BF2142. Not overblown with laaaaaazers.

How about a CoD with a good, coherent story and no grenade spam and respawning enemies?
If they deliver that, I don't care where it's set. ;)

Actually, a CoD set in the far off future, in space, could be a really fun game.
But you'd have to give it a completely new name. Maybe something like, oh I don't know, "Mass Effect"?
