Bad Company 2 Server Issues [360]

Looks like EA isn't immune to problems as the Battlefield Bad Company 2 servers are off to a rocky start. While playing online there have been reported issues with joining Rush or Conquest games and even the EA servers going down and not allowing access. Currently the problems seem to be only effecting certain users with the main issue being the EA account login.

Have you noticed an issue on the PC or PS3? I've compiled a list of everything I've noticed while playing tonight.

Sporadic access to Rush and Conquest mode.
Unable to look for both Rush and Conquest at the same time.
While playing a game you can be booted back to the main menu and when trying to reconnect it eventually times out with the error: "Failed to connect to EA online."
Invalid EA Online account.

Does the 360 version run the matches on the servers or are these EA servers just used for matchmaking and stuff?

My friends and I have played about 30 minutes in the last 3 hours (PC). Auth and master browser servers are constantly up and down, partially full servers claim they are full, game claims you have no network connectivity, random disconnects while playing, false Punkbuster kicks, etc.

Hope they have this fixed tomorrow.

Well that explains the whole ten seconds I've played before being disconnected. I know my nat is open for all the other games and couldn't figure out what was wrong.

I'm in the PC boat of 'failure to connect to server' issues. Not so much fun. I was playing SP but it then halted on a 'Loading' screen so now i'm debating WTH to play...

The BF games always, always, always have problems during the first day coming out. Bad Company 1, 1943, even the BC2 demo.

Game is such a piece of shit. I have it on PC, I can't connect to a damn server. The server browser doesn't show ping times. It takes 5 minutes to refresh the server list. It doesn't let you do anything while it is refreshing the server list. Once you are done refreshing, the player count on servers is totally off so it is a total crapshoot trying to connect to a server. If you try and use a filter it takes 2 minutes to filter the servers, if you try and defilter it has to do an entire server refresh before you can see the server list again. If you try and add a server to favorites it does this weird retrieving data thing for 2 minutes, meaning it is full by the time you try and join. Then later it disappears from your favorite servers list.

All in all, it is the worst server browser I have seen in over a decade of playing online multiplayer games.

Also, my game files got corrupted somehow and now I have to DL the corrupted files from steam again.

Once you are in a game, though, it is a blast.

If you try and use the Play Now button to have the game automatically connect you to a game half the time it puts you in a server with 2 people, the other half it puts you into a game on the other side of the world.

Just so y'all know. When I was playing midday while all the kids were still at school, everything was playing fine. Late afternoon rolled around, and all the servers went to hell.

So no it's not your connection.

Yes EA's servers got ganked.

Yes they'll get it sorted out. Just need to be a bit patient.

I played around 4 and played three games without a hitch on the PS3. I havent played since but I will again around midnight, so I hope its all good.

I running into problems on the clearly superior PC version of this game. The server browser is not great, but DICE has never been one to make a good browser. I may have just lost my XP, but its cool i dont sweat such things and lol when people do.

UGH, this plagued me with BF2 for years. Come to find out years later punkbuster didnt like alot of Socket 939 Nforce 4 mobos back in the day.

Aye, thats why im here, played about 20 min of the single player, running through the jungle was pretty awesome. Also my FPS have gone up quite a bit from the BETA. Running just fine on my Regor 240 and 5770 @1680x1050 on medium.

Got hit with this last night. Then it became XBL Party laugh time at how this happens with every EA game at launch and how we anticipate the, "Due to unforeseen and overwhelming response to the game..." and then everything will be fine pretty soon. Then we threw in some bitching about the whole thing, got reconnected and got back to the fun.

For anyone having problems on the PC - this fixed my problem:

I was getting the weird "connection to server is lost" and/or Punkbuster errors. Tried manually updating Punkbuster to no avail, but it turns out I didn't do that properly:

To really manually update PB - you have to click "add game", select Bad Company 2, then find the folder with the game .exe in it. Then hit the PB update button, and only then did it actually go out and find a bunch of files it needed.

At that point, I actually was able get in some games!

Real headache setting up, nasty login server problems... you'd think this was a Battlefield game or something... =P

I'm sure it will sort itself out when less than 100% of people who own the game try to play at once. They really need to move to a staggered lottery rollout.

But this does take that new game gleam off this promising title.

My issue last night was terribly annoying(360 version). I was doing great in match and had received about 8 pins for service when the game just dropped me. I totally lost all progress for that round. Now if it only happened once I wouldn't be as mad but it happened twice so I lost roughly an hour of progress due to matchmaking issues.

Other than that though I love the game. I stayed up by about an hour and a half just to keep playing. Just unlocked the revive kit with the Medic.

I'm sort of serious. I don't have the time required to become really proficient at Modern Blaster Game 3, so I tend to stick to SP and Co-op modes. :(

Then avoid this like a plague its all about MP and ranking up. Athough it will be the most fun you have had in a while if you enjoy tactical shooters.

Speaking of ranking up, I think it has went a little far when you have to unlock the basic items that differentiate the various classes. The engineer shouldn't have to unlock the repair tool or the medic unlock the med kit. :mad:

I agree, having to unlock the basic function of the medic was a bit silly. Took me quite a while since I was a noob to begin with.
I finally ranked up to get the defib and let me tell you, it's very cool to revive people and be revived.
This game will really need some serious playtime to be able to truly compare it to MW2.

Server browser was acting up, kept crashing my client on browser searches and the server kept disconnecting everyone, but the Play Now was working fine. heh We were up to 4am this morning playing (PC), made for a nice launch day all-nighter. A few CtD's (only 1 not in lobby for me) and some disconnect spikes, otherwise it went fairly smooth. Definitely some stuff they still have to flush out, but not too bad for launch.

The maps in this game are just outstanding. Gorgeous and very well laid out. The destruction on top of that makes the gameplay in this just fantastic. Also clocked a bit of the single-player, and they really go all out with the immersion... only played the demo for BC1 (thought about getting it, but new I'd hardly play it on console), so I didn't have much experience with the story before.

It's the first game we've had in our clan since I joined where everyone (even the cheapest guys) bought in for day one. We've already got our server up, and have clocked a good bit of time in collectively. I can finally retire MW2, which I only picked up 'cause so many of them were playing. Glad to be back in a real game. Totally worth paying full price for.

Because fucking fanboys defended games that were half done or full of glitches so much, the companies took note, laughed and put all the content on sale for 10 bucks! Or said WE WILL PATCH IT LATER. *Horse armor as well. :D In a way this all "those" people's faults.

You obviously suck. The kit system helps to curb dealing with people like you on a constant basis ruining the experience by not knowing a damn thing about your role.
