When Super Street Fighter IV was announced last September, it was stated the game would not be released for full price and that people who purchased the original game should hang onto their discs. Retailers have been listing the game at $39.99 for a while now, but there was no official confirmation that it would certainly launch at that price.

Well, what about that? I posed the questions to Capcom's PR and you'll be happy to know that it indeed will launch for the 'budget' price of $39.99. Unfortunately, further details regarding the surprise could not be given other than an additional concrete affirmation that us faithful SFIV owners will be getting 'a special treat.'

The suspense is killing me.

Special treat? Arcade port of SF2? :P

This is about as good a move as they could have made once it was announced that SSFIV wouldn't be available as DLC. Pretty classy, Capcom--especially since you probably could've easily charged $50 and still had the masses gobble it up like Pez.

I must therefore assume you are easily 'suspended.' :D

$39.99? Too pricey.

So where's the benefit for the customer's who bought the original SFIV? I've logged over 129 hours in SFIV, so it's almost a given I'll be purchasing this. I will, however, utilize the Johan method. I've no reason to purchase it right away...

I figured this would launch at $40 and the bonus for original owners will probably be shitty like free costumes/DLC that should've been free in the first place.

There's no way I won't buy this game. But at $40 for what should really be DLC I'm going to skip it for a while until either the price drops or somewhere has some kind of package deal or sale. Does this mean the sticks are going to have a big production run again because it has been near impossible to find one in my part of the world.

If the special gifts for SFIV owners are super special it might change my mind but for now it's not a day one purchase.

To put it in further perspective that's 57.2327NZD however I wouldn't be surprised if they sold it for $80. New release games here go for 129.00 NZD (90.1139 USD).

I agree. I already have SF4 which I bought at launch. Won't be making that mistake again. Will have to wait for the next "update".

Is there any word on a PC release?

Not that I would buy it any time soon, since I still have to play SFIV, which I bought when it was on sale at Steam for €18 or so.

By the way, any suggestions for a decent gamepad? The 360 one is just terrible for fighting games.

Frankly I see SSFIV was a massive step backwards for the series.

The good thing about SFIV was that it decreased the number of charachters and limited their move sets.

Going back to "crazy street fighter!" is once again limiting it's game to only the hardcore fighting gamers who bothered to learn 20+ characters movesets and strategies.

this is why the genre died to begin with...

Not exactly a gamepad, but the best you can get is a x-arcade (http://www.xgaming.com/).

Sweet Jesus! don't get an X-Arcade. That crap still uses a PS/2 interface. Don't inflict that on your PC.

The best gamepad ever for fighters was the sega saturn controller. MadCraps copied it and made the streetfighter fightpads :P

Dude, that's no different to SFA from SSF2. But which was the best one (well SFA2 IMO) But the majority love SFA3. There's a reason why capcom release them as separate games. I'm just annoyed that there's no arcade version honestly.

The USB receivers for the PS3 MadCatz FightPads die if you look at 'em cross-eyed. All the ones I have (2 original from the controller bundles and 1 replacement) no longer recognize the controllers. Whee.

Maybe their FightSticks (Pro) are more reliable?

I spent $5 on Street Fighter IV and its one of the only games that I actually regret spending money on.

I understand the appeal of the franchise, but a combination of BlazBlue and hating Seth made me simply give up on SFIV.

Arcade in a box. I'm kinda a dick here because I've never used one but I have spoken to some friends stateside who have and they give em mad props!

You can select your buttons, stick type, customer graphic, button layout, interface option.

Only think is looking on the website now looks like there would be manufacturing delays but hey at least they keep production at a realistic level to maintain quality.

Right. Which is why the fighting game scene died.

For it to live, new people have to be able to play these games and be able to identify what's fun abotu them.

When you step up to a game of Tekken, or Mortal Kombat, or Street Fighter and find a screen filled with 50 characters, it's impossible to get to the part of the game that's fun without devoting, like, hundreds of hours to it.

I've been playing Tekken 6 casually for about a week and I still haven't faught all the characters in the game yet...

Yes, MadCraps are MadCraps. We need proper gamepads with the quality of the sega saturn s controllers. Cheap Capcom...why would you side with Madcatz again? Oh that's right! EASY MONEY FOR SUCKERS!

Can't comment on that since I never had one. But the Saturn controller also has a disc-shaped D-pad, which is what really bothers me about the 360 gamepad. I think both Sony's (four button style) and Nintendo's (cross style) design are way superior to the disk-like D-pad.

Probably the Saturn's D-pad is better than the 360's, which isn't that all that difficult since I can't even control the menus straight using the latter.

I've thought about a fightstick but these things are very unwieldy and also usually very loud. A good quality gamepad with a cross-shaped (preferred) or four button D-pad would be perfect.

It's a real shame that the PS3 controller doesn't have any official support (and thus signed driver for 64 bit OSes) for the PC.

Well if the Saturn's D-Pad was anything like the one the Genesis pad had, it must have been amazing. Genesis had a disc-like D-Pad (moreso on the 6-button than the 3-button, though) and it is still to this day my favorite D-Pad of all.

You do know it connects directly via USB to the PC, right??

Link for great justice http://www.xgaming.com/store/x-arcade-adapters/product/x-arcade-usb-adapter/ (x-arcade-usb-adapter)

"2nd generation X-Arcade Joysticks made the switch and feature both Keyboard PS/2 and USB support, but this it allows you to upgrade your existing X-Arcade to also add USB support."

I have a first generation, and it works wonderfully via the USB adapter. I agree that PS/2 would be crap currently, though.

So... best Stick to have for Street Fighter (PC) ;)
