Another day, another 24 hours closer to Oblivion.

What are YOU playing this St. Patrick's Day weekend to stave off your thirst for all things Elder Scrollish?

This weekend is not only my weekend off work, it's also my birthday weekend! To celebrate, I'll be playing 24:The Game, getting my empire handed to me in GalCiv2 and maybe, just maybe, going up a level or two in WoW. And I can't forget to water my red turnip in AC:WW or get rid of that stupid tumour in Trauma Center.

Busy weekend.

The Outfit should arrive today, going to play the hell out of that until Tuesday. I've been working on DOA4 achievements a bit, I may do some more of that also. Some GRAW here and there is inevitable.

Me and my friends have just been battling some good ole Pocket Tanks and Worms 2 lately. Probably come home stumble drunk tonight and do some of that.

I am replaying through Deus Ex again, I have totally lost count of how many times I have played through this game. It still only gets better with each play through.

Waiting for Oblivion mostly.

I'm going to try and pay off my 600k mortgage to Nook (almost finished). Other than that, maybe it's time i pick up my FF7 save. I also got in the mood to pick up my Outrun 2 save, and as fate woudl have it, the save file was corrupted, so I have to start all over again. Normally, this would piss me off to no end, but the game is a blast, so I don't really mind doing the challenges over again.

Gonna pick up GRAW today, and I'll probably play some CoH as well. Got a WoW account that got renewed earlier in the week that will probably just sit there unused for a month. I'll probably play Civ IV and Morrowind a bit as well.

When Tuesday comes I'm gonna leave this world, and enter Tamriel... I'll be back in 6-8 months.

Playing through Morrowind for the very first time - with added textures and various plugins it actually looks quite nice.

Maybe I'll finish it in time for Oblivion ;) ( and if I do there are 2 expansions to keep me going :) )

Not sure, my weekend for gaming is wide open, though. Well, besides tonight. It's St. Patrick's Day, which means getting retardely sloshed on green beer. Staying in would be stupid.

That said, maybe some Shadow Hearts: Covenant or, because I've been craving more FPS action after Black, some mindless fun on the Xbox. Might also give Galactic Civs 2 a pickup, see how it is.

I'll be playing Thief 1 and 2. Those two titles are the absolute pinnacle of gaming for me. Apart from that, some Animal Crossing, BF2, and maybe I'll rent something from Blockbuster.

But really, this is all just to keep me occupied until Oblivion and Metroid Prime Hunters come out next week.

I am playing GalCiv 2. They updated it wonderfully. And some WoW. If you like Civ - you will like GalCiv 2 (except they don't have the Civpedia). Read the manual (of course, I didn't) - I was getting frustrated about not being able to build medium and large scale ships - until I figured out I had to go to the shipyard and design them. Woah! That is a lot of fun.

WoW and Halo2.

When oblivion hits, I'll probably start making a real effort to lay hands on a 360 and picking that up, along with some GRAW.

Till then: screw rank 10, the pvp system's fukt. I'm off to get my druid and hunter to 60! (anxiously waiting for 1.10 so I can make real progress toward ab/wsg exalted)

A man who knows his video games. Tempest was the only game of worth on that system. Do The Math! 32+32=64...

Me: GRAW singleplayer to the end. Probably get some Live Gold and get online with it. Then, there's the obligatory Animal Crossing. Got a mortgage to payoff and 2100 white turnips threatening to go bad (not really... i bought extra tables). Fight Night R3, if I can find somebody willing to get their ass handed to them.

Oh yeah - tons of problems. It's been weeks of trial and error. I bookmarked all the sites I used to get it working, but they're on my home computer. For now, you could try the FAQ on TTLG.com's (http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75031) forums. If you want to PM me your specific problem, I can pull up the links and send you the solutions around 6 PST tonight.

I have Thief Gold working flawlessly. I'm pretty sure Thief 2 is working, though I only got into the first level just to make sure there was no immediate crash to desktop.

I am really, really, really behind on my games. How behind?
I plan on finishing Half-Life 2 this weekend. Also, I'll be playing some Burnout 360 when I get a chance.

I've been thinking about taking a look at Morrowind again just to get myself back into the spirit of the world before Oblivion comes out.

Xenogears (ps1) - I've never played this before. I will boot it up later today.

I just finished another ps1 game a few nights ago, Castlevania SOTN. I finished with 194% completion and it was very enjoyable. I've played some of the castlevanias on GBA, but are any of the 3D castlevanias fun?

V for Vendetta is the first order of the weekend, then...

Zul'Farrak tonight with my guild in WoW. It's been fun bringing up a new group of players and characters. Then throwing away large amounts of gold to level up my Blacksmithing.

Might actually do something other than game to catch up on my Netflix before Oblivion hits on Monday and consigns me and my spare time to its namesake for the forseeable future.

Ah, you're in for a treat with Xenogears. It looks especially nice with the texture smoothing on the PS2.

As for the Castlevanias, the last two 3D Castlevanias were ok, but they don't hold a candle to the traditional 2D versions.
I'll be playing Thief 1 and 2. Those two titles are the absolute pinnacle of gaming for me.
Ah, a man (I think) after my own heart. As many know, I loved the Thief series so much I named my firstborn after the main character.
I was getting frustrated about not being able to build medium and large scale ships - until I figured out I had to go to the shipyard and design them. Woah! That is a lot of fun.
Tell me about it. I have spent more time fiddling with the ship design part of the game than actually playing the main game. It's way too addictive. Did you download the collector's edition stuff from Stardock? There are a lot of neat gewgaws you can add to your ship and they don't cost any points.

Shadowhearts 3

Just finished Season 3 of 24 and I'm thinking about going out and getting Season 4.
If you like 24, I actually have to give a recommendation to 24: The Game. I'm about 3-4 hours (in 24 Time) into it and while the gameplay is mediocre at best, the presentation and story are pretty sweet. It really captures the essence of the show. So far I haven't hit the hour 6 catch your breath episode, but there have been a pretty good variety of missions available.

I've heard it is a renter at best, but I will almost definitely get it during the summer lull that is coming up.

Right now I have Shadowhearts 3 and Burnout Revenge. Next week is Oblivion (and a sad return to class). Week after that is Kingdom Hearts 2.

I'll also be getting peppered through Gamefly with various X360 titles.

Really love 24 (the show), but I don't like console shooters in the first place, and I've heard the gameplay stinks on this, so I can totally wait on it.

Oh yeah. I should have mentioned that it's not worth buying unless you see it somewhere for $5 in a bargain bin. It's worth a rent though. It's pretty short (I just started it last night and I'm about halfway through it already) and there definately are some major problems with some of the gameplay (and I'm not even going to get into what's wrong with the driving bits).

HOWEVER, it does capture the essence of the show in ways I've yet to see other licensed games do it. It really is like you're watching a season of 24 with all the dull parts excised (*cough* amnesia *cough*) and instead have some often frustrating, but still interesting, gameplay sequences to play through to string together the cutscenes. I am enjoying the puzzle sequences where you are either hacking into a computer or using the resources of CTU to aid Jack remotely. Those parts are pretty fun. It's the driving and shooting bits that are a chore.

Definately on the DO NOT BUY list. Definately worth a rent, especially if you have a rental service.

I'm spending this weekend lamenting what appears to be the end of innovative and fun videogames.

You guys enjoy your WoW and GRAW, I guess.

Am I the only one who feels like there just hasn't been a truly fantastic game in a very long time? I think the last earth-shattering games I've played are Guitar Hero, Resident Evil 4, and Metroid Prime 1, in reverse chronological order. So that's like three years of gaming history, and only a few titles worth a damn.

I guess I'm just bitter.

Um... how about Shadow of the Colossus? Chibi-Robo? Katamari Damacy?

Those are just the three I could think off the top of my head that definately are both innovative AND fun. I'm sure there are tonnes more, but those are a good start.

I wouldn't call any of those games fantastic. Shadow of the Colossus was interesting and promising in that it pushed a new sort of game design philosophy, and it certainly had an epic feel, but I don't think it's one of the greatest games - the gameplay definitely took a backseat to its presentation.

Katamari was great fun and still sticks with me to this day, but again - not all that much there in the gameplay department.

I bought the original Katamari because the price was right - $20.00. But I sure as hell wouldn't buy Shadow of the Colossus, especially since I've beaten it.

All of the games you listed are important for the industry - they stand out as innovative and pioneering titles, sure. But they're not fantastic to play like the ones I mentioned are. I'm all for incorporating art and unique ideas into video games, but we can't forget that first and foremost, the actual quality of gameplay is what matters the most.

kizke - Maybe you should take up a secondary hobby. It's possible that you are growing out of videogames or that your game time and/or money are just becoming better than they were in earlier years.

Gaming really isn't going downhill. Go play titles that you are nostalgic about and report back on the gameplay.
