StarCraft II Beta Has Started

Brad over on GiantBomb (http://www.giantbomb.com/news/the-starcraft-ii-beta-has-begun/1874/) has photographic evidence that he is now able to download the beta to one of this years most hotly anticipated properties, StarCraft II. He suggests checking out your Battle.net (http://Battle.net) games page to see if you got in.

Requirements:

Windows XP SP3/Vista SP1/Windows 7
2.2 Ghz Pentium IV or equivalent AMD Athlon processor
1 GB system RAM/1.5 GB for Vista and Windows 7
128 MB NVidia GeForce 6600 GT/ATI Radeon 9800 PRO video card
1024×768 minimum display resolution
4 GB free hard space (Beta)
Broadband connection

These are TOO LOW to be true, really.

This is closer to the STARCRAFT ONE specs than what I would think the actual requirements would be.

Blizzard games have always had low requirements, and it's not like Starcraft 2 looks amazing anyway.

It's either random, or they went for those who opped in first. I know I was pretty early.

Anyway, I actually won my first match, but only because the opposing player left. The game plays like Starcraft in 3d. There's a whole bunch of new units, so most of my time was spent reading descriptions. Also, they've mixed up the control scheme a little bit. Probes and Pylons were both at E instead of P, I guess they've changed that for all three races.

Honestly, judging from the stream, this looks like a whole lot of the same. I suppose that isn't a bad thing (as I'm sure i'll love Bioshock 2 when I play it).

I was so excited when I saw the beta started. I took my lunch break and drove home to see check and see if I was in the beta. Of course not, the drive back to work was so sad.

They said 4-6 months. And that was in regard to a summer beta. Could very well be less or 4 months.

As far as I know, you get a new game tab to enter.
The beta button is just for settings.

The last closed beta I was in was star wars galaxies. My memory isn't so great, but I think that was in around 1987.

What I do clearly remember however, is hating it.
