Dungeon Siege and great gameplay? Someone's on crack.
Dungeon Siege is perhaps the most boring game I've ever played. I weep when I recall that I spent $50 on that title.

DSII demo stayed on my harddisk for about 5 minutes. Nuff said....

Bah. I liked the first one. As long as you new it was going to be a polygonal diablo clone when you purchased it, you were not disappointed. And I wasn't. More importantly, it was fun to play multiplayer, which is why I got it in the first place.
2, of course, was ass.

The ironic thing is that it was published by Microsoft before.
The Dungeon Siege 2 demo, I thought, wasn't very fun, or good at all. So I stayed far away from it.

Dungeon Siege was a waste of $50 for me. I didn't get any fun out of it until just recently, with the release of U5: Lazarus.

Yeah, but now you can be bored on your PSP!
Oh, wait...

I guess I'm the only one who enjoyed DSII... the pets, the special powers, the customizable items... I thought it was pretty good! :) Like Diablo 2 with nicer graphics :)

I liked DSII as well, I can't wait for the expansion.
I also hope the PSP game turns out well.

Count me as someone who enjoyed the time spent in DS and DSII. I look forward to sequels on the PC and would like to know more about a PSP title, not sure about how the game play style of DS would translate to the PSP control scheme but like I said, I'd like to know more.

It was missing two key things from Diablo though:
Fun
The ability to actually control the action
In Diablo you might be click-click-clicking, but at least you felt as if you were having a direct effect on the game world. Dungeon Siege pretty much ran itself, and it ran on and on and on. I was totally into the game at first, but about halfway through I realized that I wasn't doing much at all and was watching more than anything. I only finished the game because it pretty much finished itself.
I'm glad others found it fun, but Dungeon Siege is one of the reasons I rarely pay full price for a game anymore.
The first one was pretty good imho. 2 kinda sucked.
I don't think a Dungeon Siege on the PSP will be any good, tho. It will probably be either a pita to control, or they'll dumb it down even farther until there is no gameplay left in there at all anymore.
Not excited about these news. Now, how many days until Oblivion? :-P

I actually bought DS2 out of sheer desperation for any sort of RPG... And feel I wasted my money. The graphics were awful, the voice acting made me cringe, the whole storyline was bad... it was yuck.
At least the first DS had good graphics for the time... DS2 is uglier than the first one.

How is that anyways? Tell me it doesnt play like Ultima5:Diablo Edition? I might almost be willing to pick up DS2 to try that mod out.

Man, talk about a one-sided thread here! All I've read is bad graphics this and horrid gameplay that. I'm not even sure I'm playing the same game...
The graphics, while nothing spectacular in the polygon realm, had good textures and really beautiful worlds. Splice that in with a small number of load times and a seemless progression through a majority of the game and you've got awesome graphics, in my humble opinion. I'm not going to attack anyones opinions on it, especially against the storyline (which was very generic D&D-style plot) or the dialog (atleast the voice actors weren't so painful that it hurt), but I feel it's gotten some harsh judgement.
Either way, I'm not sure how the expansion will turn out. If it's as good as the originals expansion than I'll probably crank through it and say "Not bad, could've been better", but I have no idea what to expect. A PSP version? I won't have to worry about that, as I don't have hundreds of dollars for a PSP.

Well, to begin with, it's a DS1 mod, not a DS2 mod. I only played a little bit of it, but it was fun. I'd rate it as one of the better mods I've seen in action, and I've seen plenty. Obviously they can only do so much with the engine, but I was impressed.
If the DS team had been made up of the Lazarus team, the games might be worth buying.

Well, chalk up another one who loved DS. I just bought DS2 on the cheap a little while ago, but haven't played it yet.
I really never understood the whole "the game is playing itself" complaint. Yeah, it WOULD almost play itself... IF you set up your preferences that way. If somebody didn't want it to play itself, why didn't they just dial back some of the automatic behavior settings? Ah well, to each their own. I liked it and I'm glad the 2nd game came out... hopefully I'll start playing that this weekend.

Ah nice, I thought it was DS2. I have DS1 kicking around here somewhere, going to have to dust it off. I got bored with that game before even entering an actual dungeon. That was a bit sad.

I played some Dungeon Siege 2, and might have bought it, except for one little problem. The NPCs ALWAYS chose to start a conversation right infront of some bad guys, and the game does not pause for conversations. Instead, the convo starts, we get attacked, the convo dissapears, and I'm left with no clue as to what the hell is happening.
If anyone still has the game, did they patch it and fix that? If so, I think I'd buy it if I can find it for $20.

I thought DS2 was pretty decent and I would like to see the features in the expansion before deciding wether to buy it.
I think that shortening combat resolution time and adressing the stacked defense from multiple lines would put a lot of risk and sense of fun and challenge back into the game.
I'd like to be able to set up more autospells, including attack spells
and the ability to enchant magic items further.

IIRC GPG is an independent develper, 2k aquired the DS IP and GPG has Supreme Commander which is a THQ game
