Good review.
BioShock 2 is much more combat heavy than 1 and compared to the System Shock series its a virtual slaughterhouse. I wasn't sure how I felt about that but to begin with but the fun of setting up traps everywhere before starting the Adam suckage was actually quite a bit of fun.

I'm really surprised you said there was texture pop in. I didn't notice any and I'm a bit of a stickler for that sort of thing. I also installed the game on a 120GB drive so quite possibly that had something to do with it. (I also turned off the big daddies 'helmet' effect)

It was a pretty constant problem.
I unchecked the framerate limit and found that the game ran at a much better rate 99% of the time. I didn't install though and that pop-in was mad frequent with that checked or unchecked.

I've been playing this on the PS3 and haven't noticed any texture pop in at all. It's actually running really smooth and looks great. There is a weird problem with some lighting/shadows on some of the weapons at times though.
None of that for me. I know modeps has had some technical problems with the PC version.
Did anybody spot some weird graphics glitches in the early levels? I got a sliding door poking out the other side of a wall, very visibly and a sprite for water not filling a space properly.
Great game though, aside from little things like that.

Must have been the install factor then, because I didn't notice it and the way you are describing it, it was obvious.

Lol, a perfect score? This game is a C, at best. Doesn't even feel like a new game.

I've had vertices of garbled textures flying across the screen intermitently and low quality textures scattered about the place.
The fov issue on widescreen resolution's starting to bug me.

The fov issue bugged me, but after getting it fixed by editing the users.ini file, I found the game much more enjoyable.

I also change all the mouse speeds from 2000 to 500, and that helped.

Thank god they put a good FOV on the 360 version. I assume they did the same with the PS3 version as well. The first one had to be patched after a huge uproar from the gaming community. Poor F)ield O)f V)iew just kills my enjoyment of the game. (Halo I'm looking at you!) Developers keep it at 100-110 please.. not 60 or 70. Thank you.

*edit. Well maybe not 110 but at least 80-90. ( I saw some screen shots from felix's link and it shows the difference.. 100 is bit much )
I think Prey was set at 110 on the 360 and it was pretty stretched/wacky.
