TeamXbox (http://www.teamxbox.com/) has posted word (http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/10458/The-Godfather-The-Game-Has-Gone-Gold/)that The Godfather The Game has gone gold for the PC, PS2 and Xbox.
Gamers worldwide will step into the Don’s dangerous world of intimidation and negotiation via their Xbox, PlayStation 2 or PC on March 21st in North America and March 24th in Europe.
The Godfather The Game will also be available for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system and PSP (PlayStation Portable) handheld entertainment system later in 2006.
Is anyone planning on picking this up on it's release day or waiting for the bargain bin?

Hey, it could be really good, so I'm remaining optimistic. I mean, when I first saw "Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay" sitting on the shelves at EB, I assumed it was crap. Little did I know it would be my favorite game on the Xbox.

I've heard it may not suck as badly as you might think. We'll have to see.

I wasn't suggesting it was going to suck,I was just curious what others were thinking in regards to when/if they are going to pick it up. I've got too many games on my plate to even give it a fair shake at this point.

Going to wait and see. I've heard too much good & bad.
As a proud Italian and massive fan of all things Godfather, I'm obligated to grab it. I hope it's good.

Staying as far away from it as possible. There is no way this game can be as good as the movies.

So it will suck, but not as badly as I think??? Sounds like a game to stay far away from.
Rule of thumb: The bigger the license, the worse the game.

I'll probably rent this. I tend to rent movie/tv to games stuff rather then buying it. It saves me money, and I don't (normally) feel bad for getting it.

Bargain bin most likely, local Walmart has a big one.

It was just a dumb idea. The appeal of the Godfather has nothing to do with crazy action sequences. It seems just like licensing for licensing sake. And it just looks incredibly boring to me. When I see commercials or info about it, I get that same feeling I used to get as kid when MASH would come on TV--ennui.

This game just reeks of bargain bin. If it is half as good as Mafia, I may check it out, but my expectations are rock bottom.

I just do not know how the fuck they made a game out of The Godfather.
Some movies are easily made into games, Riddick for example. In fact, Riddick should have only been in games. The setting and character were perfect for an interactive videogame.
The Godfather, to me, just does not translate the same way.
I realize that the Riddick game is completely seperate from the movies, and I imagine that is the only way the Godfather game will be able to be as well. I just cannot see a great game coming from the movie scripts. They are some incredible stories, but they are just not really suited to be played like a videogame.
What next? Taxi Driver the game.

I'll read the reviews, but if it's anything like Mafia I'll buy it in a heartbeat. Mafia is in my all-time top 5 list, easily.

From what I have seen of the game, and generally EA games, games. I doubt it will be good.

I'm waiting for the "50 Cent: Bullet Proof/The Godfather The Game" All In One Suburban White Kid Poser Pack. I figure I'll save a few bucks where I can.

Maybe not that Deniro flick, but I'm sure Raging Bull is ripe for licensing into a Fight Night rip-off. :)

I was going to say Raging Bull too.
However, that movie is about a man who boxes. The movie may not necessarily be about boxing but a game license would make a whole lot more sense there.

I have absolutely no interest in this game.
It is interesting to see how the hype for this game has dwindled. I remember the huge coverstories on this game when it was announced. Then the game got delayed and delayed, and the gaming media no longer seems to care.
Oh well, it's an EA game, so it will probably sell 10 million copies and spawn a dozen sequels.

I still have yet to beat San Andreas, or play more than the demo for Mafia.
Sorry EA, I just don't care. Even if you have "special" created maflia, like the "Imperfects" because EA knows just what to add to a story.

I buy too many games only to not play them these days, so I'll probably pass.

What next? Taxi Driver the game.
Thankfully, that was cancelled (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8948&highlight=taxi+driver) not too long ago.
Anyway, as a proud Italian and someone who deeply appreciates the book and films, I will be staying away from this title at all costs.
Besides, we all know they should've liscened The Shawshank Redemption using the Riddick engine.

I'm a little leery of any game that (at EB at least) has the biggest selling point being that you can trade it right back and only lose a dollar per day since you purchased it off the full value.
If they weren't pushing the fact that you get a wonderful opportunity to trade the game in right away, I might feel a little less trepidation about it.
Granted, they already made a fantastic Godfather game. It's called Mafia.

Big fan of the movies (1 and 2), but the EA factor has me planning on renting instead of buying.

My plan for the Godfather is to avoid it at first, and then if it turns out to be good grab it for the 360 when it hits in July. If this game is a quarter of the worth of Mafia then I will be all over it.

There is no way I would touch this. This game is yet another good franchise for Electronic Arts to rape. Every time Electronic Arts makes a 'game' based on a movie, baby angels and seal pups die horrible deaths.

I really don't think that the point of this game is to compete with the movie.
It would be cool if you can actually change the outcome of the story, but I have my doubts. Good ideas rarely make it into games.

If this game came with some kind of horse decapitating mini game, then count me in. Other then that, i have to say EA has done a damn good job with the commercial though in the fact it's gotten me intrigued.

I want this to be a good game, it was Marlan Brando's last work.
But its EA, so I worry. :(

Played it a few months ago at an EA trade show - pass - Mafia > Godfather
It was BAD, and it's typical of EA - can't think of anything original to make for themselves, so they copy what else has been done and was popular (Mafia, GTA), then use their $$ to buy a license and mass market it. I'd say one day they'll learn but... LOLLLLLLLLLLLL - seriously though, don't touch it.
