Not quite a new StarCraft game but Fantasy Flight Games have announced (http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/rants.html) a board game version of everyone’s favorite RTS.

It features a large central game board depicting the Starcraft galaxy, as well as nine separate smaller boards that each represent a specific planet in the Starcraft universe. Players will control the familiar Terran, Protoss, or Zerg space and ground units in a bid for domination of these nine worlds. The combat system is fast and diceless, featuring an innovative mechanic that utilizes transparent plastic game cards. The game will feature dozens of beautifully sculpted plastic figures, dozens of cards, lots of high-quality cardboard tokens and markers, a large game board and several mini-boards, and all of the other great components that pack our epic-size games. Starcraft: The Board Game is scheduled for release in October.

The devs will probably delay it.... ;-)

At any rate I think I'll wait for the Revolution (http://revolution.wc3campaigns.com/index.php) to come.

Fantasy Flight makes some good games. If you're an epic tabletopper, this may well be worth looking into

Nice, but all those boards? Looks like folk are gonna have to use their Warhammer tables.

If you're an epic tabletopper
Is this like you go from a casual tabletopper, to a veteran tabletopper, to a legendary tabletopper and then finally to an epic tabletopper? :)

FFG makes some stunning games, and I have been a fan since Twilight Imperium.

I'm still pissed off at FFG for canceling the far-too-nifty pen-and-paper RPG Fireborn. Financially, the reasoning was sound(I guess it simply wasn't selling all that well), but the game is just so...badass.
It's about reincarnated dragons in the not-too-distant future. The world "woke up", and magical creatures of all kinds from the ancient Mythic Age made a comeback...including the dragons. Only this time, they're stuck in human bodies and don't remember much of went on. As such, they rely on flashbacks to recall their pasts and powers.
You end up making two characters, one dragon and one dragon-in-a-human...and you actually use both. You run around as the human and, when applicable, pick up the dragon to actually play out the flashback sequences in the Mythic Age.
It was a great concept and was actually a lot of fun...but they pulled the plug after only getting three books out. Oh well.

I'll definitely consider picking this game up; I was extremely impressed with their Call of Cthulhu board game, so they've pretty much secured a decent chunk of my spendable income when games based off of a license I adore come out.

The World of Warcraft boardgame is excellent. Never found a game that was transferred from one medium to another so well. Got it right all the way down to the way that the classes play.

Sounds kinda like Shadowrun.

GIVE ME STARCRAFT 2 DAMNIT. If they do not announce it this year, either at E3 or that one expo that they do in August/September, I am bombing the Irvine studio.
