Now that we have GRAW, does any game really matter anymore? I suppose it does, especially with a gem like Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence coming out for PS2 this week. The Outfit also hits for the 360. I'm not sure how the single player is going to play out, but the multiplayer is a blast. Not too much on DVD or in the movies. Unless you count V for Vendetta has a must see movie.

We're all happy with GRAW for now, but when ES4 hits next week that'll all go away for a lot of people, including myself. I can't wait to pick up the MGS4 release though, that'll be fun to play through with the new 3rd-person camera.

Im still not sold on oblivion, I guess the rpg type game doesnt appeal to me like it used to  So I will be whoring it up on graw until the next big game around (bf2).
I'm all over V.
I love reading the negative reviews, where the reviewer won't STFU about the bombings and "glorifying terrorists".

well, the comic was a masterpiece, so people who read it and watched the movie, how was it?

>I'm all over V.
Saw an interview with Alan Moore on BBC last weekend and he said he would rather NOT have his name on all these movies. he was not very happy about V. Saw the trailer as well... looked ok and maybe interesting. never read the comic but it has quite a big following. I like the idea of a Batman-like "hero" in a 1984 world :)
Anyway.. GRAW will keep me busy for quite some time (it gets better and better... I love the fact that it does get harder after a few missions). No more games for me until Oblivion. The Outfit? Maybe.. depends on what the reactions are from the people from my friends list ;)
BTW when are we going to tackle co-op campaign with the EA gang?

Busy week for me. Preparing my house before we put it on the market, which involves lots of trips to the recycling center and the goodwill place. Last week as a member of the unemployed as well...
Still, I'll be buying A History of Violence, Goodnight and Good Luck, and perhaps The Outfit. I'll also be checking out V for Vendetta - Natalie Portman FTW.

Thanks for the props for MGS 3 Subsistence. It seemed forgotten in my mind in the wake of GRAW and with ES4 coming but I have been playing the import online since last year and the online play is really fun. BTW its 29.99 us I think which is sweet.

I'm looking forward to the full version of The Outfit. Hopefully it arrives from gamefly quick so I can play through the single player before Oblivion hits.
I did get some friends on my list from here at EA but I too would like to know when we are going to get some co-op campaign action goin. We need to set a date like Tuesday at 7 pm or something with a predetermined host.

What is this 'GRAW' you're all talking about?

Daxter's supposed to be good, and I enjoyed the demo of Mega Man Powered Up in Maverick Hunter X. It'll be nothing compared to Mega Man 2 Powered Up, though... so buy it to make sure that happens.

Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. I suspect you're being sarcastic, but better safe than sorry.

Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. Don't worry, I had troubles too when everyone was using the acronym.

Don't forget to use GMT with the international crowd here :) If not I have no idea when to be there :)
I had no clue what GRAW is and I only know Ghost Recon from it's debut PC release. So maybe it's not sarcastic :D.
Ooh. Lot's of PSP releases! Daxters finally coming out, gotta go grab that.

Just got an email from THQ this morning, it indicates The Outfit will be available on the 17th. So probably ships today, on store shelves widely by Friday.

A History of Violence is a pretty good movie. Felt like I got my money's worth in the movie theater with that one.

I didn't see it in the theater, but it's a must buy regardless. Same with Goodnight and Good Luck.

No games for me, but I will probably be seeing "She's the Man." I saw a preview for it a couple of weeks ago and recognized the character names as being from Shakespeare's The Twelfth Night. I am fascinated by modern remakes of Shakespeare plays--what new types of messages they incorporate, how they adapt the plot etc. I loved both "10 Things I Hate About You" (Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew) and "O" (Othello) and "A Thousand Acres (King Lear) was an interesting reversal if nothing else. I'm not sure "She's The Man" will be as good as any of those (which were above average), but the fact that it is a remake is enough to get me interested.

Isn't the US release of Space Rangers 2 supposed to be this week? I've been looking forward to it as many people say it's a worthy succesor to Star Control.

Honestly, I'm keen to check out MC Remix. I liked MC3, and this is a cool trend of releasing improved Greatest Hits titles (Like Devil May Cry) ... I just have to support it

Good point, anyone want to host? I'm not sure if upstream matters a whole lot but I'm thinking it does, if so I would not be a good host.

I'd like to hear some reviews for V by comic fans. I don't give two shits about what anyone else has to say about it, their opinions don't matter when it comes to comic book movies.

V's doing well on the Rotten Tomatoes:
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/v_for_vendetta/
Ebert puts it up there with Batman Begins and Spider-Man 2.

If you prefer review aggregates that don't take AICN into account, Metacritic's take on V (http://www.metacritic.com/film/titles/vforvendetta) is up. The critics seem conflicted as to whether the film transcends or wallows in Matrix-esque crapulence.

MGS3: Subsistance for me this week, and since I'm a sucker for a rainbow six game, I might try that out aswell.

V's ok-ish.
It has its moments, but it goes in fits and starts.
It's pretty much just a slightly more mainstream Clockwork Orange. Something for some kids to get excited about and some parents to complain about, but not really worth all that much attention. A kinda flashier version of the bastardized cut of Brazil.
(Edit: It's certainly better than either of the Matrix sequels. It's at least watchable. And it's a damn sight better than anything else that's out -- if you're not in Tyler Perry's audience anyway.)
The graphic novel was definitely better, but Alan Moore is just a full-time whiney bitch anymore. Yeah, you sold your brainchildren off in bad contracts 20 years ago and now they're being whored out against your wishes. We get it.
Alan Moore is just a full-time whiney bitch anymore
I am not a comic book guy and have not read V and barely know anything about the guy, yet I'm aware that he has been getting this reputation. So I'm kind of ignoring the fact that he doesn't want his name on the movie.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence for me. But i really want the collectors edition or Limited Edition as they call it. How could it be limited? it's a motherfucking videogame! Not like they produced a few hundreds copies we are talking about thousands here anyway it's sold out everywhere. my only hope best buy or virgin mega might get some copies otherwise no thank you.

I'm a huge MG fan, but 10 bucks just for that 3rd disc with the cutscenes aranged as a movie doesn't really float my boat. Thing is...I also need a new ps2 headset because my other one is broken... so It's a big purchase for me

Just one question about "GRAW," and I am trying to be civil here, but is it still "A pretty shooter, where 1/3rd of the screen is composed of the back of your character!"
I could not for the life of me care at all about the game when I saw the previews for it. Everything was either obviously not ingame, or made impossible to see due to the 3rd person view. I was actually trying to "bob" around and look over the shoulder of the main character.

No, not at all.
Besides, you can change your viewpoint to the more traditional first-person.

Having actually read the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and then made the terrible mistake of seeing the movie, I can kind of see where he's coming from. Actually, what I don't understand is how he can possibly have restrained himself from stabbing Stephen Norrington's eyes out with a rusty icepick.

In case anyone wanted to get their mobile Worms on... Worms: Open Warfare drops on the DS tomorrow (3/14). I for one am very impressed simply by the fact that the title isnt Worms: Destruction Squad or Worms: Dirt Suckers or some other godawful DS abreviation.

You just have to keep in mind that he doesn't want his name on any movies. If I remember correctly, he gave his share of the royalties from the movie to David Lloyd, and part of the deal was that they left his name off the movie completely. Moore does have this problem where he expects people to stick with the spirit rather than the letter of the law. He's not making a statement about the quality of the movie, he's trying to make clear that he has nothing to do with it, good or bad. The problem for him is that his name has promotional value, and Hollywood can't stay away from that.

Slow week...but Subsistence kicks ass, and I missed Midnight Club 3 the first time, so I may give the remix version a go.
