The Direct Song (http://www.directsong.com/) website has the full soundtrack for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion available for download. Composed by award winning musician Jeremy Soule, the soundtrack features over 58 minutes of music, remastered for 'out of game' listening.
Thanks to Gamecloud (www.gamecloud.com) for the tip.
Sounds pretty good, but I want to play the damn game.

Awww, they want money. I can wait ten days in that case. :) Cool service though.

My wife still thinks I'm joking when I tell her I'm going to take a couple of sick days on March 21 and 22.

DirectSong is great. I bought both the Guild Wars soundtracks from there. 10 bucks is kinda expensive compared to the other ones offered, luckily for them I have a few extra bucks in my Paypal account!
Update: Oh man, this is great. There are hints of themes from Morrowind littered throughout it. Make sure people check out the site and at least give it a listen!

Wow. This soundtrack is just awsome. Dare I Say, just as good as Thomas Newman (If anyone knows who it is)

Says the guy who currently resides in 'Vaginatown'. If you don't mind, I'll take the opinion of pretty much anyone else who doesn't reside in your fantasy land.

Dude, the soundtrack for Kull: The Conquerer was AWESOME. A great combo of fantasy and hard rock. Not always appropriate, but I dug it. I also like the stuff Soule and Uelman. I have their music circulating in my main track list at home.

It's pretty hard for me to listen to OST without the actual game/movie. So far I've only found Ghost in the Shell SAC OST3 to be so excellent that I'd listen to it on the go.
I'm probably not as excited as some of you, but even I can't wait to see the completed game, only 9 days away!

The only time I've ever seen hard rock in a fantasy setting was the recent prince of persia game.. Yea that was horrible..

I too plan to take some "Personal Holliday" time off after the 20th... My plan is to have a 5 day weekend in which I become completely Oblivionated.

Hey man, don't be knocking vaginatown. I was going to add something witty here, possibly referencing some sort of sex act, but I shant for all our sakes.
Anyways: I love these clips! Not only is it varied, but its not just the 'filler' that some games have - its very musical and evokes a real mood. The 21st cannot come fast enough.

When I first read that instead of Thomas Newman I thought Randy Newman. I was like "what the fuck?" until I reread it.

If you've heard one Jeremy Soule song, you've heard them all.
No, I didn't waste any of my money on this bullshit, but I've heard enough of the music via the multitude of videos showing off Oblivion. Like I said, it's generic fantasy crap, much like the music that appears in every BioWare game and in Morrowind.
Fantasy music doesn't have to be classical. Look at Planescape Torment, the soundtrack is so amazing and engrossing, and it's really just a mishmash of ambient sounds, same with the Fallout soundtrack. Those set the tone for the game, and displayed the atmosphere so well you can just listen to the music and imagine yourself in Sigil, the Hub, wherever.
when you listen to Soule, you hear the stupid whining violins you here in every "epic" game, you hear the monotone drums and barebone sound. You don't visualize yourself anywhere else except sitting in your chair listening to crappy music.
If I play Oblivion, it'll be without the music and with WinAMP in the background.

Agreed Nichols, but I like Soule music (especially IWD) even though it does sound all the same. Too bad Oblivion won't have the ambient sound style ala Fallout. I found the music in Morrowind initially fantastic, but quickly became terribly annoying, an endless loop of monotony...

i actually agree with nichols too, every jeremy soule soundtrack in games i've bought has been turned off less than an hour through the game.

Soule's track-record as such, is wildly uneven. The music he composed for Amen: The Awakening was absolutely stunning, as was his work on Total Annihilation. Likewise, Icewind Dale managed to score several awards, and the music was quite memorable. Morrowind, by contrast, is a confusing score. The principle theme was absolutely breathtaking, and everything else quite mudddled and uninteresting.
His other work, NWN, Harry Potter II, KOTOR, Unreal II, Dungeon Siege, etc., have been fascinating as exercises in atmosphere scene-setting. A sizeable number of violins, the occasional drum...as though trying to fuse romantic-period compositions with a baroque sensibility.
However, my understanding of people in positions such as his requires that he fulfill the demands of the developer, and as such, some criticism ought to be directed at those who seem to think that bland atmospheric music is somehow more interesting than music which draws an audience into the world and story being told. Though what exactly that means may vary per person.
In any event, the main 'theme' (as such) of Oblivion? Completely lackluster in comparison to Morrowind.

I plucked down 15$ for the soundtracks from Morrowind and Oblivion. Cant find my Special Ed of Morrowind anywhere that had the soundtrack cd. I just burned the soundtracks on a cd and then ripped them to mp3's ;) Hopefully this will sooth my Elder Scrolls fix until my copy's of Xbox 360 and Pc versions arrive on the 24th

The install of Morrowind includes the soundtrack though, in mp3 (?) format, if I am not mistaken (it's been a while since I've played the game).
Does the OST include tracks not present in the actual game?

Jeremy Soule makes awesome music, even if it all sounds really similar

I'm sure it's just fine-I never had a problem with the music in Marrowind and I thought it captured the feel and mood of the game quite nicely. BUT- Diablo 2 is the RPG that comes to mind when i think of cool origional music.
Personally, I think the soundtrack for Medal of Honor Frontline, is probably the best I can think of. Every lv and song have almost perfect synergy.

Well, I really can't knock you for not liking his music. Because really, when I listen to any type of music, I can hear similiar themes in simliar genres. Pop-punk for example. Some of it is great, some of it sounds like all other pop-punk. Rap, same deal. I think it has more to do with your taste in music than the talent of the composer. I think Danny Elfman is notorius for making cookie-cutter soundtracks, but I also love some of his stuff. Personally, I don't want to write off anything until I've heard it once.

Probably not, but Xbox users don't have the option of just copying the tracks, so this is the way to get the tracks without paying $30/$50 for a copy of the game for PC.
Also, they've been "remastered for out-of-game listening", whatever that means. :p

Seemingly, the Morrowind soundtrack includes a remix of the central MW theme, and the rest of the tracks are (likely) encoded at a higher bit rate...

You would. You're just so dense that you would think it was an mp3.
