Electronic Arts sends along word that new Vampire and Werewolf pay costumes are available for Battlefield Heroes.

The world is obsessed with blood-sucking demons and vicious werewolves, and so are we! Battlefield Heroes, the hit Play 4 Free third-person shooter has been invaded by vampires and werewolves. In a special month long event, the many millions of Heroes who have perished on the battlefield can be brought back to life. Anyone can fight alongside these preternatural beings but to become one players must purchase the all-new outfits as a special bundle on the website or as separate items in the in-game store. Once-dead Nationals can be transformed into blood-sucking vampires and Royals into teeth bearing werewolves. Three existing maps have been converted to an eerie night setting to set the stage for an epic battle between these immortal enemies.

round two of Pirates vs. Ninjas?

If at first you can't sell it, re-brand it.

The "play for free" is total bullshit. EA promised that all players would be competing on even ground, in that 12-year-olds with mom's credit card wouldn't be able to buy the best weapons and dominate, etc. The RMT was supposed to be solely for buying decoration for your characters (clothing, accessories, etc).

Originally, you could only buy weapons with Valor Points (the currency you earn by playing the game), and you could buy weapons at intervals of 1 week, or 1 month. The weapons were fairly cheap, so it's not like you really had to work at having a weapon, etc. Then, they allowed weapons to be purchased permanently using Battle Funds (RMT, real money), not that big of a deal. Then, more recently, they changed it so that you can buy weapons per day, or every three days, and it was really expensive. Or you could buy it with real money.

And then, they introduced new, more powerful weapons that were even more expensive, which meant you would need to grind the game very extensively just to be competitive. Keep in mind, that BFH was originally billed as a casual-friendly game.

I would love to know how the guys at DICE feel for completely betraying their players. I used to thoroughly enjoy Heroes, but they ran it into the ground real bad.

No zombie? No sale.

Is that supposed to be sung to the tune of "no woman, no cry"? Because that's going to be stuck in my head all day now...
