In Tomb Raider: Legend, Lara comes alive with intricately animated expressions, moves and abilities. An arsenal of modern equipment, such as a magnetic grappling device, binoculars, frag grenades, personal lighting device and communications equipment.

Eighteen months ago, Tomb Raider team members at Crystal Dynamics embarked on their own quest to rediscover Lara Croft. During their soul-searching mission, they unearthed past consumer surveys, conducted new research, re-read every game review, listened to lots of passionate pleas and opinions from gamers and re-played through every Tomb Raider product. From this introspection and open-minded search for a fresh perspective, Tomb Raider: Legend was born. Check 43 new Tomb Raider: Legend screens (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=32568) over at WorthPlaying.

That really ought to read "Lara comes alive with an intricately animated expression." You have to be careful about not mixing up singular and plural cases.

I thought they REDUCED the size of her breasts in this latest game?

A. She still looks like a mannaquin.
B. Apparently her tits are detailed enough now to see the augmentation scars.
C. The world is still as sparse as it ever was.
D. Bullet + lightbulb = lightbulb FTW

I'm hoping the gameplay has been improved enough for me to enjoy this series... I really do, because I've always thought the series had POTENTIAL.

Never been a tomb raider fan, but who knows? It might be good.

This is the first game in the Tomb Raider series where I'll honestly admit it looks like it might end up being pretty good. Here's hoping. Like Perigon says, it's always had potential, it'd be nice if it lived up to that.

Well it looks better already, can't say it will really be any better since Angel of Darkness had some good screens and we know how that turned out. But as long a you don't spend 75% of the time shooting at bats and tigers I'm sold.

The first, original Tomb Raider was pretty amazing for its time. I had a ton of fun with it--there had never been anything quite like it before. Sure, it could be maddening, and having to repeat areas over and over sometimes kinda sucked... but it really had an "exploration" feel to it--and a lot less overall action than the sequels.

Every single next game in the series sucked worse and worse. Too much run and gun, not enough discovery of really neat areas that supposedly had been hidden away for hundreds/thousands of years.

Don't know if I will try this one or not. After seeing all those commercials for the movie, I keep equating Lara Croft with Angelina Jolie. And that freaks me the hell out, because that was one of the worst casting ideas EVAR.

Maybe not. The gameplay videos I've seen show promise, though. I'm willing to wait for reviews and see how it looks. If it does end up sucking, no big loss, I move on. If it doesn't, sweet.

For whatever it's worth, OXM gave it an eight. (http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/926821.asp?q=tomb%20raider)

I'm expecting something along the lines of PoP. Nothing revolutionary but solid and fun nonetheless. At least we know it looks great.

So it's more like a 7 then? Well, that's a step up from the recent Tomb Raider crap.

After giving Fight Night 3 a 10/10 that magazine is worthless.

Considering Crystal Dynamics is working on this game and not the original crew from Eidos (Core?) I think this game actualy has a chance although the 360 and PC versions could use a bit more polys.

Well, consider this... Official magazines aren't always wrong. Particurally when it comes to multiplatform games that appear on their competitors' consoles. So, let's wait for some more reviews.

If they can make this as fun as number one or two im sold. Tomb raider 3 was pretty good, the difficulty was deffinately increased but all in all i had a fairly fun time with the game aswell but it was tomb raider 4 and 5 that ruined it for me.

Well, honestly, I'll buy it.I doubt you'll be disapointed, it's actally a good game, and the shadows on the 360 are impressive. The combat could use some work, but that's usually the case for these navigation puzzle type games.

They should release a demo for this game on Live, I bet it would boost sales.

Oh and FTW means "For the Win"

I'm still annoyed that the PSP version is the same as the console ones. Portable games should be different from the full console versions. Otherwise, why buy it on the portable where it won't be as good?

Um, so you can play it when on the m-o-v-e... Wasn't so hard to work out was it? :) Not everyone is gonna be buying both versions. I'd even suggest the 'average' gamer they're pitching it at is quite unlikely to get both. ..and they've added some modes of play specific to the PSP. If ya wanna handheld that's not trying to be capable of full console stuff, stick with the DS.

Yes, you'll be able to adjust the bounce, and you can also perform acrobatics in a thong. Unlockables include a special one-handed control scheme.

Don't let the homo's get you down guys. I'm looking for tit physics too. You're not alone. Some of you need to reach down and make sure you're still men.

You should check out the create-a-character in Rumble Roses XX. There's a convenient 'bust' slider. That game will probably sell disturbingly well.

Seems as if every comment that seems to approve of breasts needs to be followed by the obligitory dig. A "That game will probably sell disturbingly well" like comment.

Comments like "::Japanese start forming a line::" just means you don't understand the japanese. Japan is immersed in porn. It's everywhere and from what I understand it's available even to the middle schoolers if they make the effort to get it. People read it on the trains going home at night and apparently there are even porn flyers in the newspapers. My point is the Japanese aren't the target of "Breasts in games" because they already get more than that every day of their lives. The target is prudes like us who don't get that and like it in games even though we publically deny liking it.

This is my primary source though reading about japan other places also supports his comments.

I like breasts but I find RRXX to be disturbing. For some reason having the ability to inflate breasts until they are unrealistically large and deformed is not atttractive to me. And there's no doubt that RRXX is aimed at both Japanese and American males.

TKO
03-14-2006, 03:11 PM
Heck, I just thought RRXX was aimed at males of any locale (well, most locale's.) ..Now that graphics have advanced so much, and the marketing drones know how well sex sells (and the users are predominantly male ..though less so recently), it was only a matter of time before companies would start using the female form to try to appeal.

Personally, I think the only reason more of these games are comming from Japan is because they aren't so concerned about political correctness, as compared most western nations. (And the American software houses maybe view sex as the current political hot potato? I dunno .. maybe they view it as the current free-publicity tool.) :)

I noticed "The Movies" has a chest-size slider (for both male and female actors), but there the characters ended up IMHO looking a whole lot better with a modest setting. There was no bounce-physics either. (Anyone notice that breast bounce got added to GTA in San Andreas? Seemed to be just animation-detail rather than actual physics.) To be fair to The Movies, breast-size was an important part of the games mechanics (in your stars suitablilty in some genres), and that was more a reflection on the Movie industry than this particular game.
