The Xbox 360 demo for Ridge Racer 6 is available for download on Xbox Live.
Logged in last night and saw it before starting to play some more Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter.

I noticed the same thing. I logged in just to see if the promised GR:AW demo had hit yet since I BELIEVE it's less than a week now until it is released to the public. Instead, I saw that there was another Ridge Racer download and it was a demo. Picked jaw up off floor, started download, passed out in a stupor.
Checking it out tonight.

Was it promised? I thought this might be some sort of self generating detail, because I can't find an offical post about a demo.

One of my favorite games.
Easily one of my favorite games for the 360. It might not be crap-your-pants next gen graphics, but it's super slick, in high def, and running at 60fps. Also one of the hardest to get achievements in, so be warned. 50+ hours in, and I'm still at 248/1000. You will curse, you will want to throw your controller at your cat, and you will cry.
The first 1/2 of the game is ridulously easy, don't let that turn you off. Things definitely get fast and outta control when you start climbing high in the World Explorer.
Hint: If you get extremely laggy online play, go into your settings and choose "Disconnect from PC" (not Media Center). No custom tunes, but the lag goes bye bye.

Demo is not showing up for me. Is Xbox Live localised, i.e. some countries don't get things at the same time?

I'm a fan of the Ridge Racer series, and RR6 doesn't disappoint in the slightest. Definitely not for everyone, though- the super-arcadey racing style just annoys some folks- so I'm glad there's a demo for anyone who might want to give it a try.
Swat, you're not kidding about the achievements. I've only got 95/1000, even though I'm a good bit through the World Explorer mode. It's seriously tough going to earn some of those. I'll have got my money's worth out of the game before I even break 150...

No demo in Europe yet. It'll come up sooner or later I guess.

It must be a PAL vs. NTSC or region code issue that Europe has no demo. Passport may think you're in America, but your new set-top-box knows you're a damn frrrrner.

Just downloaded it and am pretty impressed. I'm glad I got to try before I buy. When this game drops in price, I'll be picking it up for sure.
I hadnt played a RR game since the launch RR for the PS2 (which I really liked)...looking forward to getting this now, right after GRAW.

Yeah no kidding, I'm still shocked at how big World Explorer is. And to think in the beginning I thought the first bit would take a while :) New route.. new route.. new route..
Some of the races are so incredibly hard later on, it comes down to an equal part of memorization and luck. You cannot afford to bump one corner, you have to boost at the correct areas to refill your meter, you are practically forced into first person view to block the cars, and the AI is so relentless that I was forced to replay some of the races upwards of 20-30 times.
It's all good though, it sure makes you one helluva Ridge Racer.

The original Ridge Racer was the only reason I finally bought my first (and only, so far) console, a PS1, back in 1996 or so. Loved the game to DEATH and was tired of spending out rolls of quarters in the arcades.
Sounds like the general consensus here is that it's pretty good. May have to look into a 360 in a few months :)

Downloaded this one last night. It’s like Need for Speed except that it sucks… like a lot. Playing Burnout for 4 hours, then downloading and playing this just hurt.
That’s just my opinion, apparently some people in this thread really like it.
The drift mechanics are completely weak, like the car always drifts sideways to a certain point and then drifts back, back and forth until you let up on the gas and straighten yourself out.
Sense of speed isn’t anything compared to NFS:MW and Burnout, even when using nitro.
The announcer’s voice is very annoying, I have no idea why they’d put it in there.
And even apart from the drift thing already mentioned, the cars handle strangely.
No damage, no sparks as far as I could tell, when colliding with things.
The scenery looks nice though.

Welcome do Ridge Racer, it's always been like that, and it always will.
It's not "like need for speed", it's like ridge racer :)

Oh, other craziness: You can't reverse by holding down break, which isn't on the left trigger, it's on B. And accelerate isn't on the right trigger, it's on the A button, which on the 360 is digital, so there's no fine control over your acceleration.
Enjoy your game guys, I'm baffled why you'd want it to play like this.

It is in the full game. After a while, you get other announcer voices too. Not being able to reverse is annoying at first, but you won't need to once you get to know the game.

Not a good representation of the game.

I didn't like it either, digital button for accelerator and an analogue for a your boost which is either on or off is insane. Whoever mapped those lost a sale, I don't care if they fixed them for the retail game, I don't reward stupidity.

Thanks for the tip achilles. I won't even bother - playing racing games without analog triggers is just a waste of time.

I've noticed on Major Nelsons Blog (www.majornelson.com/) that there was a problem and the Demo got Pulled! Apparently they uploaded the wrong File to the Live Marketplace..
