Rockstar Games has finally decided to lift the Xbox 360 exclusiveness of it's Grand Theft Auto IV expansions "The Lost and the Damned" and "The Ballad of Gay Tony". Both episodes are headed to the PC as well as the Playstation 3 and will be available on the 30th of March.

We are happy to announce the much anticipated release of Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Games for Windows® - LIVE on March 30, 2010. For the first time, PlayStation 3 and Games for Windows - LIVE players will have the opportunity to experience the last two thrilling chapters of the Grand Theft Auto IV saga.

The full press release can be found here (http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/2010/01/29/2861/grand_theft_auto_episodes_from_liberty_city_coming _to_playstation_3_and_pc).

I was kind of expecting a PC release but the PS3 version comes as a surprise.

Wow I thought MS paid for this so it was locked down exclusive. Not only that but did they not get a different game made for them exclusively because of this as well? If I was a Microsoft exec I would be pissed.

As stupid as it was to pay $50 million for these episodes in the first place, it now seems even stupider considering they're not permanent exclusives apparently.

Epic fail on MS's part.

Not sure MS ever said the exclusives were permanent. In fact, most GTA "exclusives" almost always have an expiration (see: GTA Vice City and San Andreas on PS2, both of which made it to Xbox).

That being said, PC and PS3 owners are in for a treat. Both episodes are great, especially Gay Tony.

I saw this coming the moment it was announced as exclusive for the 360. This is Rockstar, after all.

Truthfully, i can't believe that anyone would think that they were not going to come to PS3. These things just take some time.

Rockstar isn't stupid (unlike Valve or Sega, I guess). They're not going to cannibalize one of their high-revenue console markets by making a title more appealing on the other console-- R* gave MS limited exclusivity because they threw money at Rockstar but now many new PS3 Slim owners (and there are a LOT more of them after the record-breaking December sales) will have a reason to pick up GTA4 (for a lot less than the original price) to get the new DLC. Win/win for R*/Sony, and silly waste of money for MS.

I wouldn't call it a complete waste. This DLC was a pretty big announcement. I'm sure a lot of gamers who had both consoles pick up the 360 versions because they wanted the DLC.

It wasn't a $50 million payment, it was an advance. Basically a free loan. And the exclusivity terms would have been written into the contract. So it's not like Rockstar suddenly decided to screw Microsoft or that anyone at MS didn't know this was about to happen. The contract is about to expire.

The only people unhappy about this are rabid fanboys who hate to see the other side's fanboys suddenly getting some awesome content.

Makes me wonder if PS3 owners will even bother with this late port...

I keep meaning to buy the all in one disk. Never seems high importance enough.

My thoughts exactly, because anyone with common sense knows that a game over five months old is not even worth playing. PS3-only gamers, don't waste your time!

Meh. GTA IV was trash..but Red Dead Redemption = what GTA IV should have been. It looks incredible.

I wasn't a fan of GTA IV to begin with so I could be wrong...and chances are I will be.

I think I will still give Red Dead Redemption a shot.
