IGN (http://www.ign.com) was lucky enough to get their hands on the Revolution's Developer's Kit. Not sure why IGN needs a dev kit, but they did manage to write up a preview and impressions (http://revolution.ign.com/articles/694/694785p1.html).

One attribute about the controller that may be difficult to ascertain from photos is its size. For as many times as we've seen it in various videos and pictures, we're surprised at how tiny the device feels in the hands. The freehand unit is much smaller than the remote that ships with the premium package of Xbox 360, by comparison. Despite how small it is, it's very natural to hold. The peripheral offers extremely intuitive access to the A button, D-Pad and underbelly B-trigger, all of which are properly labeled. Interestingly, the A and B buttons located beneath the mysterious home key are labeled twice: A and B in capital letters and again in lowercase letters. We're not sure why. The buttons themselves are clicky, not unlike those found on a Game Boy Advance SP.
I hope the thing isn't too small...or there's going to be lots of gamers with carpal tunnel!

It didn't sound like they got sent a dev kit, more so they went to some developer's place and got to see it. Don't these things normally come with a NDA?

Bah, I already have carpal tunnel... hope I don't need a brace to use it for more than an hour O.o.

Not to mention tennis elbow.

Not to mention tennis elbow.

Most gamers already have that from doing something else. ;)

I'm not sure how a remote could cause carpal tunnel.. but um, great news post otherwise!

Maybe they can sell a bigger one? Or hopefully the third-party can? Given the lack of ergonomics on my DS, although I still play until the pain become too great, I am a little worried.

I can't wait to see what Nintendo (and Sony and MS) throw at us at E3. I'm hoping Nintendo will show some demos of the controller in use with real games (new Link, Mario, etc) vs here's a simple fishing game, move the blocks games, etc.

Most remotes don't involve you moving your hand around... this isn't an actual remote, it's a controller involving you to make a lot of wrist movements. Add is some great gameplay that keeps you playing for multiple hours straight and the tendons within the carpal tunnel will start to swell and pinch the nerves there. Suddenly your hand starts to tingle, and then freeze up if you keep going.

I think working on a programming assignment for over 8 hours straight was what did me in, especially when I was doing a lot of clicking with the mouse. Taking breaks seem to be more important than I thought...

Whoa whoa whoa... "clicky" buttons? "Like on an SP"? It's cellphone style buttons?! The DS Lite was supposedly fixing all that. *Stops quickly* Hang on, this is a dev kit. If they've already changed things w/ the Lite... it'll probably be fixed on the Rev's final version.

EDIT: Yea, they say the entire thing is totally makeshift w/ low quality plastic, etc. Totally disreguard this. :)

Uh, well, that's good. I'm glad they didn't screw up mislabelling their buttons like last time... errrr..

Personally, I'm a fan of clicky buttons, so I hope they stick with them. I love my DS, but the hand cramps are rough, so I hope this isn't an issue with the Rev. I wouldn't think the size would be an issue in this regard as much as the required motion. Anyways, E3 can't come soon enough!

Small light remote to wave around > Big heavy remote to wave around

I'm glad it's smaller. The idea of reaching around the entire top surface of that thing with only your thumb seemed a little daunting. The D-Pad seemed especially undoable.

Wow. I assumed that it was a lot bigger. Smaller than the Xbox 360 media remote? That is pretty damn small. It's a great design. I just hope that it's not too small though.

why are you all talking about this as if it exists. the dev kit doesen't mean anything in relation to the final product we will get, especially this early in the game. And what's with the article anyway, i got a real bogus feeling reading it.
