I like this marketing technique. Rewards those who bought a new copy of the game, but also finds a way to make some money off rentals and pre owned copies as well.

This is how the big developers should move forward, rather then find ways to ban preowned games

a) I also like this way of incentivizing new sales, but the implementation that goes through EA servers is not ideal (which has caused headaches for DAO DLC).

b) Watching that trailer made me think about the "Revenge Dad" (Liam Neeson character) from Taken.
