Thanks to Nect Generation (http://www.next-gen.biz) for the news (http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2455&Itemid=2).

Atari could face delisting from Nasdaq if the troubled game company fails to get its shares over $1.00.

In a statement, Atari said that, "as expected", it received a Nasdaq Staff Deficiency letter on March 3. Atari will have 180 calendar days, or until August 30, to get its share price up to snuff.

During that window, Atari needs to maintain a share price of $1.00 or more for at least 10 consecutive business days. If the company fails to do this, Atari will be delisted, although the publisher could choose to appeal the decision.

Atari shares closed at 77 cents on the Nasdaq today.
Ouch.

My old editor is now a PR guy for Atari... keep meaning to ask him about what is going on but job security is always a touchy subject.

Didn't Activision buy Atari? I can't remember the story behind renewing the Atari brand

Infogrammes bought the Atari name, then renamed themselves to it.

So, it looks like Atari is going to pray for Driver 4 to be a big hit.

Needless to say, they are screwed.

To quote the words of Perigon: "Dude, you can't kill Atari. It doesn't work, they just come back. Everytime it dies, someone goes to Japan and gathers the Dragonballs and wishes them back to life."

I think it's because the name has THAT much mindshare. It's not a company, it's a pop culture icon. So long as people still wear those Atari shirts, and listen to bands called "The Ataris" it will be a prime piece of real estate. Knowing that they've put out nothing but crap for years, have nothing to do with Nolan Bushnell's Atari company, and that it's a company that's dying, I would still look twice at a game that had the atari logo on it just because I'm conditioned to associate it with gaming. It's just the way it is.

Can we please just let Atari finally die? It's honestly like watching my grandfather stretched out into a horrible, paper-like skeleton and trotted out before the media as a healthy older man. It's just sick. Just let if fade into a respectful past. Raping their name, as everyone has done since Nolan Bushnell, is just a travesty. Please please please just let it end.

I hate to alarm everybody but I just bought atari for 1 grand. Meaning that 1k * .77 = four hundred million dollars. So if you guys do the math, math meaning numbers, then those numbers are correct. Thus I own atari and you. So you owe me money.

Well they certianly do have a Automatic million seller coming out in the summer, so that August deadline should not be a problem, unless NWN 2 gets delayed.
Obsidian has at least hinted they are very much on schedule.
Hell honesty I see NWN 2 selling 2 million easy, but with Bioware's online buying program, Atari wont get all the sales.

Wow... I just realized this. This is almost an exact repeat of The Year of RPG's (Morrowind, NWN, Dungeon Siege). This time it's Oblivion, NWN2, and Gothic III... Now I have faith that Gothic III will be better than Dungeon Siege, but I'm pretty uncertain about NWN2...

How many people who worked on NWN2 also worked on the original?

Planes are hardly evil. I believe Evil has a crunchy PT cruiser :(, an AvatarTank, a SubmarEviltar, and of course there's the Evilgalactic star cruiser parked in his garage.

Shotgun no blitz. :p

Yeah, they're banking on the success of that and that crappy graffitti game!

Put a nail in them, they're done! :p
