Oblivion's release date is almost perfect timing. It comes out just after the start of my 3 week easter holiday. I may not leave my room for some time...

We should do a "PC/ 360 version for you?" poll. We had some answers in some previous TESIV thread and it was basically 50/50.

I'm playing through Morrowind/Tribunal/Bloodmoon again over Spring Break! I would be playing through Oblivion, but they decided to schedule it to ship on the last day of Spring Break <.<

Less than two weeks away!!! Hopefully that'll give me enough time to play through Ghost Recon:AW, thoroughly enjoying that right now.
I wish I could complain about a game not shipping during my Spring Break..... I wish I even got one. Sometimes, I actually miss college.

Why care so much what version everyone's getting?

BTW my comment above is pure curiosity only, if mods see it fit to delete it then go ahead - it's just an idea for a poll.

Sometimes, I actually miss college.
Sometimes??? Real-life post college = teh suck, from a gaming point of view. Sure, getting a job means more money with which to purchase the latest greatest games and systems (until you get married and someone else has veto power over your impulse purchases), but there's just something lost when you leave that college environment which is so conducive to social gaming. Sure, Xbox Live is great, but playing Flatout with mostly strangers is nowhere near as fun or fulfilling as those 4-player Mario Kart 64 tourneys in the Student Union.
Oh yeah... and Spring Break and Summers off (except for the summer job/internship) were excellent as well.
And then, just wait until you have one or more kids. PocketNES on my GBA and an occasional 1/2 hour with Guitar Hero are the only games I've been able to play in weeks. I weep when I think of the 100s of hours I'll miss out on with Oblivion. :(
Still... in another 4 years or so, I'll have a built-in gaming buddy with whom to play games. And also, it's hard to worry about not getting ES4 on launch day when your little girl looks up and smiles/laughs at you.

Yeah, Ghost Recon has curbed my lust for Oblivion at least till it comes out. I find Ghost Recon to be one of those games you play in your head when you are at work waiting to get back to actually playing it. Good times on the 360!

I agree. How many times do I really need to see "PC for me!" "Xbox360 for me!" Do we really care what version? We're pretty much playing the same game. Let's talk about the game :)

True, I'm in the same boat. After college I got married and now have a 14-month old daughter. Between that, work, and the constant studying I have to do for work (Network Engineering), I don't have much time to play games. My play times are usually around 10-midnite after the wife and daughter are in bed. This of course means I get little sleep but you do what you have to :) I certainly don't want to give up gaming completely.
The dorm days of multiplayer were the best. I remember having my dorm room door open and people would walk by to see me playing Mario Kart 64 and just join in. Often people I'd never even met before. Good times.

I am very VERY glad for the March 20th release date, myself. You see, I'm off on a business trip next week and won't be back until the 18th. This means I (thankfully) won't miss the Oblivion release.

As someone who had to work hard in college, after college is sooo much better. More free time + money= every game system and time to play them. I can agree on the social aspect of pickup games but online gaming is fine for me. Those were good times but I don't miss it. To each his own...
Cannot wait until some reviews of Oblivion...then I will decide to buy or not.

Indeed, I have been playing it in my head all day. I have also threatened people with various actions that may occur if they do not buy the game.

Of course, is it safe to presume you've yet to do at least two of the following?:
A) Get married.
B) Have child(ren).
C) Buy a house.
I'd say a gamer can handle one of those and still maintain a pretty active gaming lifestyle. However, add in another one and it becomes extremely difficult. Land all 3, and you're looking at significant restrictions to your hobby.
Of course, I guess it's my own fault--I got married just over a year after I graduated and got my "uber paying" job. Word to the wise--buy the jet ski BEFORE you propose. ;)
Cheers...
EDIT: Not that I have -ANY- regrets whatsoever.

i got my pc collector's edition for 29.99 shipped at amazon. i had to apply for their visa card however to get the 30 off. free (slow) shipping. but i have to take care of some other things before i can play the game anyway, so it works out well for me.

The thing about gaming and wives is that hopefully you married a woman who at least loves you enough to let you enjoy your hobbies. I don't understand my colleagues (in the industry) who are with girls that HATE games. Why would you do that to your self?
My wife knows I love games. She knew that going into the marriage. That's not say I sit there and play 5 hours in a row. Everything in moderation. I own a house. I have one child and a menagerie of animals. They all get attention by I also get my own time to play.
The other trick is getting your girl involved with your hobby. My wife watches me play 'some' games and is totally into it. Kingdom Hearts, Beyond Good and Evil, Indigo Prophecy, Clock Tower 3, etc...

HEHEH, bingo :) i'm with you on that, although i waited till i was 31 to get married, then a new house a few months later, and a baby half a year later. of course i had to throw in a new sexy suv before the baby was born because what kind of a father would i be if my beautiful baby was 'rollin in an 8 year old car?
my hobby has taken quite a slowdown :) but that's ok, i don't mess with consoles or multiplayer stuff, so whatever time i get to play i can enjoy fully.

I am doing it backwards. Got house first, then soon baby and marry (maybe) after that ;)
Anyway.. GRAW is very cool... Oblivion will make sure I am happy with games for next 2-3 months.

Just bought a 7800GT in anticipation for Oblivion. Can't wait. Gonna have to though, school, wife, kid, pets, and house all take priority to playing games :( but I'll get in a few minutes here and there every day :) I'll beat the game some time in the next decade at that rate. Actually how long has Baldur's Gate been around? I still haven't beaten that game either...

Finally, in a few weeks I can stop drooling in ancipaction. Thankfully GR:AW is eating up my remaining days till Oblivion.
As far as college vs real world I have to say I really enjoyed my college years but I love my life now... I consider myself lucky to work for a great company doing something I enjoy with while my finacee loves to kick my ass at Burnout when I get home. Viking+ is right, I found a wonderful "techie" girl who enjoys gaming and likes sharing my hobbie with me. We don't like all the same games but we have enough in common to enjoy gaming together.
\reminds me I need to pickup Burnout for the 360 on my way home as a surpise for my girl
\\she doesn't track release dates like a "gamer" so it should be a surpise!
\\\slashies??? oops... this isn't fark.com, sorry...

Not just today, bap! It's a life-long obsession, unfortunately. It's one of the few thing you can never get sick of talking about when you're on a six-week tour of North America. Poops jokes never get old. :)
