Valve is constantly working on Team Fortress 2, and now they want you to be a part of it with their latest project, the Team Fortress 2 Contribute website (http://www.teamfortress.com/contribute/). Creative folks can now create avatars and items, then upload them for review by the masterminds.
HAVE YOU GOT WHAT IT TAKES?
Think you're good at making TF2 items and avatars? Better even than the people who design the game? Here's the thing: you're probably right. And believe us, this knowledge haunts us every day.
Gabe Newell's just an email away, after all. What if you ratted us out?
In exchange for your silence, we are now accepting submissions for fan-designed TF2 items and avatars, immortalizing you in the Team Fortress 2 pantheon forever while keeping our jobs safe. Pending approval, your item will get added to your backpack, and cycled into the random item drops in-game. Blow up stuff using a weapon you created! Kill an enemy, then let him know he died in a hat you designed! Weapons, hats, avatars -- designed by you, used by the entire TF2 community.
Pretty cool way of getting even more community involvement.

Pretty much the best multiplayer game ever.
I still play it almost daily, with a livelly community and stuff. Fast, DEDICATED servers. No Lobbies, no drops due to host disconnect and all that.
Along with that is a love from developers unparalled in the history of gaming.

Yet again Valve turns to the community to make money for them. Just look how Counter-Strike turned out.

Do you always have a stick up your ass? Jesus, all you seem to do is hate on everything.
On topic, this is pretty cool to be part of it.

I don't hate anything. I dislike many things. Way to label me a hater republican.

How does this make them money?
If anything, they'll be spending time and resources going through community made material that they could be spending improving their game or finishing Episode 3.
They already sold TF2 for 2.50$ not long ago, something tells me they don't really need any more money.

Exposure = money. The infrastructure is laid down. All they need to do is count the bills. They are the modern version of atlantic records.

Yes, that is cool.
As an owner of 4 copies of Orange Box 360, however, I still wish they would make good on even just a teeny tiny bit of their lie promise about DLC. I would pay for it.
Whadeva. I have 48 educational accounts for my students and have logged lots of hours playing the PC version with all the community content. Partly sour grapes, partly true: TF2 is less than the sum of its parts.

Given how much FREE content they gave us throughout the lifespan of TF2, we don't mind helping them out.

Sooooo... you "dislike" this move again because???? I doubt anyone understands your beef, even it is to just make money since... that is what companies try to do. Seems to be a smart move to keep the community engaged/involved in the process of making their game better and more fun. They aren't charging us for this sooooo... again, what is your beef?

You do realize you only need one copy to play the game, and that buying extra copies wouldn't make the DLC appear, right? ;)

LOL :) Thanks for making me laugh at something that is breakin' my heart! (My hope isn't completely extinguished yet.)
Hey, you do realize that playing with the limit of only 8 per side, is actually quite enjoyable. Lots of room to maneuver and you live longer.
