The first movies (trailers?) from EA's upcoming Medal of Honor title have surfaced on the web this week.
The first one (http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=9591&pl=game&type=mov) is a pretty long "in-depth interview" done on Spike TV with Patrick Gilmore (executive producer) from EA.
The second one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zkswJePseM&feature=Views&page=1&t=t&f=b) (must see) shows some gameplay.
Holy crap... Unseen level of animation in there.

Hmmm... you can't tell from that second trailer. It looked like it might have all been cut-scene - even though some sequences were FPS, it could have still been cut-scene and EA is known for putting out cut-scenes in advance instead of gameplay footage.
It will be a good one to see the 720p trailer on Xbox Live's Marketplace.

I'm just glad this will hit PC, PS3 and 360.
No need for *anyone* to start shit in this thread.
I especially liked the part where that soldier got hit in the neck.

I think I agree with you Evil..
It was very dark and looked like cutscene.. however i'm looking forward to seeing more about this game...

I don't know. After seeing the real time Brothers In Arms Xbox 360 shots in OXM this month, I'm thinking just about anything is possible. That game looks fucking amazing. I'm talking beyond the faked Killzone cinematic amazing.

Good to hear a developer saying how they use the new system's power for something other than graphics. Looking forward to this now.

Who really cares about Medal of Honor anymore? All the original devs have left and the whole series is nowadays pure crap gameplaywise.

1) People care about good games.
2) People cared about CoD2.
3) People will care about BIA3.
4) Watch the interview.

They had a section in the February 2006 issue of Game Informer about this. It had stills from that same movie.
This was our first glimpse of Medal of Honor Airborne - a video combining running interactive game software and target footage exhibiting Renderware on the PlayStation 3

I bet Sony is going to show that trailer to everybody at E3 and do some pimping how the PS3 can display such graphics with ease.

The trailer looks pretty good to me.
Zawath has a point, by the way. Sony will tout this the same way they touted the graphics for Fight Night Round 3 as being a measure of how the PS3 would perform.

Why bother? The game is also for Xbox 360. Seems like that would kinda backfire the same way their Fight Night hype did.

I'm loving the proportion of discussion of graphics vs. gameplay in this thread.
Does anyone want to talk about air-dropping to any point in the level? Weapon customization? AI with terrain priorities? I'm rather interested in these things.

Pfft, dinnae be daft, MacDuff! This is the Next Generation, where graffix is all that matter. I'll see your dump-mapped surface and raise you a normal-mapped one.

Haha. What gets me the most is that at some point most vocal gamers became obsessive over CGI industry buzz-words that we never cared about 10 years ago. Everyone's talking about bump-mapping, normal mapping, shaders, HDR, 1080p, anti-aliasing, filters, soft shadows, sub-surface scattering, the list goes on. Who gives a shit? Are people out there saying "What, this game doesn't have recursive ray tracing? Fuck it, I don't need to hear nothin else. It's gonna suck."

Nobody will believe you, sadly, because - as seen in this very thread - the trolls already labelled MoH:A as "PS3" game and thus "fake CG".
Besides (and I can sign under this one) - everybody remembers the fake Madden 2006 pics.
Question: Running on PC, PS3 kit or 360 kit?

I believe the media is responsible in large part for the proliferation of buzz words and all the hype associated with them. Rather than get to the gameplay nitty-gritty, journalists are often too busy trying to squeeze feature lists into their previews to appear more knowledgeable than they perhaps are. Eye candy sells, unfortunately.
All these next gen bells and whistles count for naught if the gameplay itself is poor.

I tried having that discussion here once before and was met with "moh is teh suq" and "ww2 iz teh played out".
Really though, from what I read in the big GI preview last month, this game seems to be really doing a lot to shake up the genre. I really have to applaud EA for trying some new things here, not only with gameplay mechanics, but also with moving the line forward on in-game emotion animation.
Bottom line being, I will pick this game up for my Xbox 360 on day one.

Who cares about stills? Until those images move in a convincing manner in an above-30 frames per second, they don't mean fuck-all.

Never have. Is it any good? Doesn't it stand for Official Xbox Magazine? If so, aren't they in Microsoft's pants? As in, their reviews are for selling games, not warn the public? Sorry for the rant...
Edit: Their website is sooo impressive, pimping the november 2005 issue...is this a joke?

Ahhh carefully worded response, yes there is a difference between "in-game" and "game-play". .... plus I would never admit to working at EA ;)
As far as game-play I remember that one level in MOH-PA where you had to defend the airfield, I tried to beat that level maybe 30 times before I discovered the solution, just point the AA gun strait up and keep your finger on the trigger. Ha .... real game play there. I will never buy another MOH game. COD rules ;)

I think the hugest thing is they're the first people to really have the balls to give you a scenario and let you figure it out yourself, rather than a linear path.
Call of Duty 2 is really linear, and it's not ashamed. It makes the best of its linear-ness.
Brothers in Arms, though, hyped up how you'd be fighting on authentic Normandy maps, down to the last detail, and they'd just plop you down in Normandy and make you figure it out. What they really did was go "Ok here's our real map of this farm from 1944, but we don't want the players to be able to go over in this area, so let's put a dead cow or a busted up wagon there to block them from getting there. That way they'll have to go down this path." It was linear disguised as non-linear. Same with FarCry where they said "you can go anywhere on the island" which really meant "you can go about 50 feet beyond the games linear path, and you won't hit an invisible wall, but a helicopter will come and kill you instantly."
Hopefully, Airborne won't pull that sort of bait and switch on us. The air-drop feature has so much potential to make the levels different every time, and leave the strategy up to the player. I'm just kinda wondering how they'll keep you from completely leaving the objective area. We'll have to wait and see.
As far as the "WW2 played out" thing goes, I agree to a certain point, but once again, this air-drop thing kind of changes everything. I think what the WW2 genre needs is downtime. We get hints of it in some games where you're sitting around talking with the guys, but then you go right to the action. If games were sort of un-wavering in that they played out in real time. You work your way to an objective, fight, spend time digging in and preparing, fight the counter attack, wait for reinforcements, secure the civilians, and get moved out to a new location, or go to Paris on leave or something and talk it up in the city. I've always loved those "hanging out" periods in games like in Elite Force where you could just walk around Voyager. WW2 would really benefit from that. I mean, look at Band of Brothers. It's not all non-stop fighting action. A lot of the non-fighting stuff could transfer well to games.

I need help? You are the fanboy comparing a screenshot to a rendered sequence. And a few days ago you were posting a link to an image of this BiA shot next to a MGS shot saying one "owns" the other. I know it's hard for people like you to refrain from building up excitment for "your" console's games, but trust me, you are a lot less likely to be dissappointed if you dial back the expectation meter a bit.

There is nothing wrong with the machine. I have had one since November, but if you've played a recent MoH game, and still expect greatness, I worry for you. But I guess people forget fast.

Well, to be honest, I haven't played a MoH game since the PS1.
Anyway, just because a series has had some bumps doesn't mean that it's forever destined to be shit. If that were true, I never would have seen Star Trek 6 because ST5 sucked so badly. I would have missed the best of the series.

Rainbow Six has had a bump, half of the MoH games out there are "not that good" and very, very short.
