Little more recent news, if you haven't seen it yet:
http://blogs.battlefield.ea.com/battlefield_bad_company/archive/2010/01/07/bfbc2-pc-beta-update-fr-229-n-dice.aspx
PC beta starting Jan 28th.
I'm waiting to pre-order until I see it on Steam. So much of my PC multiplayer stuff runs through steam communities now... it's an inconvenience not to have it integrated with any particular game.

There may have been some sites that had it early, but EA released this file to everyone on 01/07. I uploaded it to our YouTube account on 01/08 and forgot to post about it until today.
I played some of MAG last night and I have to say that Bad Company 2 rivals anything MAG is doing and trumps what you find in Modern Warfare 2.
This game is going to be awesome.

That was impressive. I am going to keep an eye on this beta and if its good use it as a head start for the 360 launch.... Until Reach of course.

I can see this game being exceptional when people do work together like that. I hope thats the case. Actually playing as a team seems to be tough concept in many FPS games.

Well you see on the PC most of the Battlefield games ARE played with teamwork, you cant win if your team is shit and lonewolfing it. For that reason alone I hate to play any team based game on a Console.

There is plenty of good teamwork on console. Just saying.
That looks really fucking awesome, actually.

One of the reasons why I am considering picking this up on the PC instead of the consoles like I did with the first one.

Thats why you make friends with other people on this forum and play with them. My list is full of EvAvers and play with a good chunk of them regularly. :)

Playing in the beta, the teamwork runs from good to excellent. If you don't have at least a small amount of teamwork then the match is over so fast it isn't funny.
And that is on the PS3 where no one has a headset. I imagine that there will be a ton of teamwork on the 360 where everyone has one.

I was just thinking the same thing.
Even in 1943 you have a pretty awesome amount of team work and I would say 1 in 5 squads that I'm in someone may have a headset. Even if the squad is small with 2-3 members it works and kicks ass.
Im really looking forward to this game. Battlefield always ends up being the FPS experience (for me) console or no.

I would not buy this game simply because they put scopes on 1960s RPGs.
My problem with the game is that the limited edition gives a ton of over-powered perks:
Double armor on tanks
Device that allows you detect nearby enemies
Tracer-dart you can shoot on enemy helicopters that enhances AA missiles
Stronger pistol
A stronger assault rifle
There might be one or two others but the tank armor and tracer are complete BS. Check out the video of it on the B:BC3 website.

Wait what?.. there will be two versions of the game and one has advantages over the other? That's not right.
I'm not sure but I always assumed everyone could unlock those perks but LE users had them from the get go.

That seems more fair. I can't imagine they would nerf one version of the game, that would piss a lot of people off. Can anyone confirm this?

All I know about that is if you pre-order, you get the LE at no extra charge. Guess that opens up the whole "we hate pre-order incentives" debate though.

My debate isn't so much with pre-order goodies, but more about pre-order exclusives from one chain (I hate that) and recently when it was announced that a $5.00 bonus adventure would be a pre-order bonus for Heavy Rain.
That feels like they are hiding/cutting content from the game to hold back as a pre-order bonus.
But, the whole pre-order thing is getting pretty pathetic. I've been avoiding pre-ordering most games just on general principal. I'm ordering when I want to & where I want to and saying to myself "To hell with the pre-order bonus items."
This article explains more, apparently they will be unlockable by others. Good, the game looks awesome, I'm in.

Those unlockables are different from the unlockables from Dr. Pepper. I uploaded this video on October 29th detailing those Limited Edition unlocks:
