Worthplaying (http://www.worthplaying.com/) has translated and posted word (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=32412&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0) from JoWooD News (http://news.jowood-news.de/) that an offer has been made to JoWood to bring Gothic III to a Microsoft console.
Jowood President Dr. Albert Seidl revealed (http://news.jowood-news.de/content/view/308/28/) that it has received a multimillion dollar offer from a North American publisher to bring Gothic III to the Xbox. No specifications were given, nor did Dr. Siedl clarify whether it was for the current and next gen platform, but given the technical requirements, it is doubtful the current gen Xbox could handle it, so the X360 platform seems much more likely.
Ok, just don't make the PC users wait for the title while the 360 port is being developed. Let alone changing or possibly watering it down to do so.

Could it be T2? They already have Oblivion. Midway maybe?
God I hope it's not EA.

Well if true the guys have finally been rewarded for all their work. Gothic never was a big seller on PC and a console control pad might turn this game into an RPG heaven for a lot of casual players. I would even bring 1&2 to the 360 if I was them :) Could be an awesome console series.

Good for them.
Gothic with better controls? I am there.
Maybe it's Microsoft hoping for a game like Fable... but better.

I've always heard good things about the Gothic series, but have never tried either of the first two titles in the series.
Maybe if I can play them downstairs in my comfy cha--

NOOOOOOOOOO!!! As long as it does not delay the PC version, then I have no problems. But if they make it a console version only - then there will be some serious trouble. And, if they don't change/waterdown the PC version cause the XBox can't handle it. Otherwise, this is good for Jowood and if it helps to get the series more "mainstream" that can only be good news for the franchise and future games.

Am I the only one who is getting tired of seeing all the games getting "consolfied" ?!

They'll really have to dumb it down. The game is no cakewalk by any means.

I had a feeling this was only a matter of time. The Gothic Series is just too good not to find a place on consoles.

You're an idiot. Xenos has direct x 10 . It shits on all cards out there now. 360 is a beast. There will be no dumbing down.

Ugh, just ugh.
Isn't anything sacred anymore?
The Xbox has really changed the PC gaming market for the worse. I know people get upset when I say that, but it's pretty easy to see the evidence.
Stay the fuck away from my Gothic you bastards!!!

I think he might mean more in the gameplay department than just graphics. Gothic can be a very difficult game but going on my sense of the developers from playing the game they seem pretty "hardcore" and care deeply about the integrity of their world.

Honestly I think Gothic will be even better on console. A 360 port of Gothic III would be awesome.

He was talking about dumbing down the gameplay and the difficulty, not the graphics.

Change it to a first person game and it would be perfect for the 360. Oblivion sure plays alot better on the 360 according to the previews. Why would gothic be different.

So console gamers can only play easy games? Played Ninja Gaiden lately?

Are you people really that dense or just joking around?
Played Fallout 1 & 2 on your Xbox?
Played Civililization on your Xbox?
Played Sim City 4 on your Xbox?
Played Gettysburg on your Xbox?
I could go on & on but I won't because it won't change a damn thing.
Ninja Gaiden = arcade game, much like DMC. Dumbing down has NOTHING to do with the genre of the game in question but with the platform it is designed for, but thanks for playing.
Funny how this "offer" is basically a money hat. If you can't beat them - BUY'EM. Typical Microsoft strongarm strategy.

Ehum, IMHO the controls in Gothic2 were crap and can only be improved by moving to console. Also I've found I prefer playing my RPGs in my living room nowadays instead of sitting at my computer for 40+ hours (standard RPG timeframe).
It's not like they are saying they will abandon the PC or anything. If this helps us get Gothic 4, I'm all for it. Those guys deserve the money they can get for making good RPGs.

You knowI could argue that these kind of games are dumbed down for the PC. Real gamers play tabletop games! Silly computers with their dumbed down gameplay.
See what I mean?

lolz, Borys needs a fucking time out from the internet. His trolling of anything and everything xbox/pc related is getting old.

Actually, with Gothic3 you really don't need to dumb down anything. It's perfect for the console.
