According to Joe Madureira, courtesy of Eurogamer (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/vigil-not-doing-dlc-for-darksiders), there will be no DLC or multiplayer addition for Darksiders citing that they were trying to bring the very best single-player experience to the table that they could.
"We realised early on that we wouldn't be able to pull off the scope of game we wanted to and have it be multiplayer," Madureira explained. "We were a new team building new tech and a new IP. We had our work cut out for us.
"Vigil has a very strong all-or-nothing mentality, and if we're not confident we can pull it off, we're not doing it. So we focused on making the most kick-ass single-player game possible."

I'm happy to hear that not all devs think they need multiplayer for their game to sell. Too often, it sounds like multiplayer is an afterthought.

I'll probably be picking this up tomorrow. And I don't care about no multiplayer, as so many games have multiplayer with little to no online community that its not even worth putting it in half the time.

Agreed.
From what I'm seeing of reviews it looks like they chose the correct path too. There are enough mediocre titles with multiplayer in them. We don't need another one in the pile.

Darksiders is a Zelda game with Big-Boy Pants on. Multiplayer wouldn't work and isn't necessary.

Love it! And it doesn't need multiplayer. DLC would be nice later on though.

I think this is a result of the pendulum swinging the other way again. So many people are agitated/livid/raging over day one downloadable content (which is really leaving a bad taste in a lot of peoples mouths).
Not really sure how I feel about this, personally I think downloadable content can be done correctly, problem is corporate greed needs to ratchet it down a few notches before that will happen.

Finally, a couple days after the game comes out and thank the Lord there is no DLC already!!!! It makes sense though.... its not an EA game.

It is interesting that a clearly single-player game like Darksiders is getting reported on negatively for not having DLC or multiplayer. Will almost every single Wii title get a story about it not having DLC now? Will we read reports when other clearly single-player games like Megaman, Zelda, Final Fantasy, and Castlevania are not multiplayer?
