In preparation for Dreamfall, I was gonna go all TLJ-crazy again but I just couldn't find my CDs. Heading over to the Funcom online shop (http://www.funcom.no/wsp/funcom/frontend.cgi?func=frontend.show&template=home) I noticed they had a new 2 CD version of the game. Now, there is no word about any changes in this version but I am sure that its at least patched. The most fun to be had for $14.99... legal fun, anyway...

PLEASE, for the LOVE OF GOD anybody who reads this post go out and pick TLJ. The game is wonderful and fantastic. I hate to see the Adventure genre die like this.
Also, almost every time I go to Target, in their bargain area of PC-CDrom titles they have a half dozen copies of this game for $9.99. Almost every gamestop has copies of it as well.
My two cents.

PLEASE GO OUT AND BUY THIS GAME, THANKS.
Easily one of the best if not *the* best adventure game in the last 10 years. If you are into fantasy adventures like King's Quest series - GET IT, if you are into dark, sci-fi adventures like... err..., Blade Runner? - GET IT.
TLJ is a masterpiece, a one-hit wonder never to be replicated again (just like Deus Ex).
Oh, while you're at it - pick up THE MOMENT OF SILENCE. Great sci-fi adventure game, way more fun than overhyped POS like Still Life and Fahrenheit.

That's odd. A 2 disc version of a 4 disc game.

Yeah, I'd tell everyone to pick it up as well. The last great classic adventure game I played(and which spoiled Syberia for me). However, I'd like to know how they cut the size in half.
I'm sure the sequel will disappoint, so this is all we have.

Yup, dumbed down for the Xbox crowd ("lol, adventure game").
Argh.

This version of the game has been out for a looooong time.
Playing through it right now, on chapter 8, been everything it was hyped to be so far.

I may pick it up again if I can't find all the CDs for my original copy.

Ya the original CD's were not 700mb versions I think. It came out in 1998 so they didn't use the same type of technology back then. I should probably replay it again in time for Dreamfall. I hope.. hope so much that it can do justice to TLJ, but I increasingly don't think thats likely.

I'm also a huge fan of this game. One of the best games I've ever played, and easily tied with Grim Fandango as my favorite adventure game ever. Simply a masterpiece. I should really play it again sometime. Kudos to Funcom for making such a mature title as well.
I have really low expectations for Dreamfall. It's been in development for ages now, and a lot of the info released has been disappointing to say the least. I'm just not thinking of it as a follow up to TLJ at all.

I thought it was brillaint how in a day and age where everyone wants to make their games play like movies, TLJ clearly played, and was structured like, a novel.
On the flip side htough, I never completed the game because once you get to the ohter world, you just get bogged down in so much fantasy meat that it can become daunting to keep up with.

I got stuck and gave up after beating some wizard on a floating island.
Perhaps I'll go back and finish it.

I'm being cautiously optomistic about Dreamfall. I don't like the fact that they've added combat to the game though. Seems like a step away from the kind of adventure game I want to play.
That said, I'll echo what everyone else has been saying. If you haven't had the pleasure of playing through TLJ, go get this now. There's no reason not to.
Now I'm going to have to reinstall my copy again. Great.

Does the Longest Journey have subtitles or a sort of close caption as I wont be able to hear the words?
Pretty sure it has subtitles, but I can't remember how dependant the game is on sound.
