Thanks to Next Generation (http://www.next-gen.biz) for the news (http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2404&Itemid=2).

Take-Two label 2K Games has announced plans to release next gen console games based on The Darkness comic book franchise. The game was formerly on Majesco's books.

Developer Starbreeze Studios is handling the first-person crime horror game, with a release date set for next winter. "This is a dynamic first person shooter that allows players to call upon the forces of the evil underworld as they fight in gritty, urban environments,” said Christoph Hartmann, MD of 2K Games. “Armed with an arsenal of guns, gamers will battle an array of demonic creatures and supernatural powers. The dark and dynamic comic book storyline will translate perfectly into first-person action that fans will love.”
Sweet!

2K seems like the big coperation, with a soul. They seem to be pretty eager to help small studios, and let the companies they have bought to have relative freedom.

Shit, are people still using 'gnarly'? :)

I've yet to read the comic, but I may make a point of picking up an issue. Are there any compendiums out there you would suggest?

Starbreeze! Woohoo! This is the Riddick developers! (If you haven't played it on the XBox, do so.)

Yep, one of the best games on Xbox by a long shot. Not too shabby on PC, either.

Yeah Riddick was a really good game. Hopefully the guys at Starbreeze can make this just as good, if not better, then Riddick.

I'll tell you what I loved about Riddick - the first-person melee combat. They nailed the nastiness of hand-to-hand combat in a way that has seldom (if ever) been repeated.

I am. It's 80's day here at work. Totally.

Here is the first TPB (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1582400326/qid=1141409205/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/104-7266018-5687160?s=books&v=glance&n=283155) of the series that is less than $10.00 from Amazon. It's written by Garth Ennis (Preacher/Punisher fame)

I should kill you.

Sorry needed a dramatic entrance to say this is pretty old. What's needed is some damn ingame. They already have a cgi trailer. Doesn't help matters.
