View Full Version : Final Fantasy XII Soundtrack Info

The Japanese site Aniplex.co.jp (http://www.aniplex.co.jp/) has some info and a screenshot (http://www.aniplex.co.jp/FF12/) of FFXII's limited edition soundtrack.



The release date is April 19 (in Japan)
It contains 100 songs on 4 disks, some of which do not appear in the game
The theme song of the game (Kiss Me Good-bye, by Japanese singer Angela Aki) will be released on March 15


The music has not been composed by Final Fantasy veteran Nobuo Uematsu this time around. Rather, Hitoshi Sakimoto, whose other soundtracks include Final Fantasy Tactics and Vagrant Story, is the man behind the game's music.

I had hoped that Square would find a worthy successor to Uematsu in the FF games, seeing how the music was usually a high point for me. But FFX-2's music was horrifying.. this doesn't leave me with high hopes for FFXII, although I can't honestly say that I remember any of Sakimoto's music, it's been so long since I played Vagrant Story. And I never played Tactics :(

YES!!! Tactics has the best music of ANY of the Final Fantasy games!!!

Sakimoto's ok, but I would have prefered to have Mitsuda behind the title.

Then again, i may just be a fan of Mitsuda.

Sakimoto's work with Tactics was particularly excellent. I don't quite remember what the music in Vagrant Story was like, because I seem to recall a lot of quiet scenes with no BG music. But I have listened to the Tactics soundtrack far more often than one might deem normal.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I thought the FFX soundtrack was pretty good, particularly the portions not composed by Uematsu, with maybe one or two exceptions. Hearing that he's not doing the soundtrack should breathe some more life into the musical end of the series.

The intro music in Vagrant Story was sweet. Hope its at least that good.

Hitoshi Sakimoto is fine by me. Tactics had some damn nice music.

Interestingly, FFXII takes place in the same world/timeline as the tactics series. So I guess this seems very appropriate. With any luck, we'll catch a few of the theme songs of old mixed into this new score. Would be nice for some pangs of nostalgia to sneak in.

Tactics and Vagrant Story are both some of my favourite Square games. I see a lot of the style of Vagrant Story in what little I've seen of FFXII.

Now, if they could ever GET THE STUPID GAME OUT, I could see if it lives up to expectations or not...
