They seem to be pretty fond of shots from that level from the PS2 demo. I'd really like to see some of the bigger open Onslaught maps or something along those lines. The strength of UT to me has always been the ability do deliver incredibly smooth FPS gameplay ala Quake in a large outdoor enviornment.

God that engine is sexy. Hopefully this is as much fun as 2004 was.

I'm just Epic's bitch, I guess :) While I did enjoy DOOM and Quake multiplayer it was just kind of "meh" after awhile (Quake II DM was insane fun for awhile). When the original Unreal came out, however, the multi hooked me like crack. Then UT came along and it became even better and the UT franchise has been my sole outlet for DM/CTF/whatever ever since :) I've got too many RPG's to play to dick with more than one FPS...
That said, let's hope this version is as polished as 2K4 gameplay wise. I'm going to have to get some bandwidth to host a damn server on now too.

In the future everything will be bumpy and shiny.
My eyes feel crowded everytime I look at those shots. It's the same with Gothic 3 screens too. Too much detail, personally I think we need to be looking more at environmental effects more than cramming the highest detail textures possible. I'd love to play something like Oblivion but more like a living breathing world. Plants flower and bloom in different seasons, rivers swell or run dry dependent on rainfall. Coupled with a decent physics engine and reasonable graphics that would be awesome.
Far more immersive than simply giving my eyes more information than they can process.

I somewhat agree. "My eyes feel crowded everytime I look at those shots." pretty much sums it up.
Not that the graphics aren't pretty. They are...
but... it might get a little overwhelming at times. It is still a game after all. Eventually graphics may get in the way of gameplay if this keeps up. Literally IN THE WAY.

I agree. Give me good to very good graphics with much more going on in the world and I'll be happy. That's part of what has me excited about Crackdown on the 360. They've gone with a lesser graphically impressive style specifically so they could do more with the world. To me, that's the way to go.
The "awe" factor of graphics wear off before too long but discovering new things you can do or things going on in the environment never grows old.

My god I think my whole computer just cried looking at the screen shots, along with my bank account trying to calculate the upgrade fees. Cant wait for this game to come out tho. Looking like im going to have to upgrade soon tho, Oblivion, UT2K7, and Vanguard.. ugh.

I doubt anyone else here remembers the game, but for some reason, when I look at the UT2K7 shots, I think of "Zephyr", for the PC (by New World Computing), which was a kind of FPS/Racing/Blow crap up game. I think the similarity exists in the element that made Zephyr a complete failure as a game--just too much stuff going on.
Of course, that's not to say that I don't believe UT2k7 is going to be a fantastic game, as I'm sure it will be; just that the urban setting from some of the shots seems to scream "overcrowded explosion fest".
On a side note, I recall that the game's music and menu system rocked. :)

What is it about Quake II that was so great for Deathmatch? I don't usually like DM, but I loved it in that game. I originally thought that I just played it at a time when I felt like some DM, but other people that aren't that into DM bring up Quake II as one of the few times where they were into it.
What did that game do that made DM fun for the non-DM junkies? I just haven't figured it out.

Maybe Epic will support M&KB. It'd be nice of them.

That preview was worthless!
It was a page and a half of "ooh, pretty pictures", and then a single paragraph about the gameplay. I already know that the game will be far too pretty for my computer to handle!
I want to know how the game plays! Is it 2K4 style? '99 style? floaty? tight? What are the weapons like? What are the new ones? What are the returning ones? What has changed?
Argh...

Hopefully they the PS3 wont have all the ridiculous mutators. That alone would make me get a PS3 and UT2K7. Mutators single handedly ruined UT2K4 online for me. Ugh...I hate Instagib.

2007 version its suppose to be as solid as the Original UT and 2k4, I read sometime ago that they will have some kind of feedback so they game got what the gamers or fans like, I even heard that the jumps boots of the original UT are making its return !!  :D :D ;)
Let us hope that they didn't sell us dreams, I'm looking forward to this UT :)

Good question. IMHO, the game just felt spot on with map flow, weapon choices, and the player community at the time was fantastic. Regardless, something about that damn game just 'felt right' end of story.

If you are talking pure graphics, you again are off your rocker. Or don't know what "good graphics" would look like.
