1up is reporting (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3148495) that Midway will be adding five new titles to the Xbox 360's Xbox Live Arcade. "Midway is ready to add a new bunch of titles to the service, with Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, Cyberball, Root Beer Tapper, Paperboy and Defender on the way."

Hey Midway, thanks for saving UMK3 for Live Arcade instead of including it on Arcade Treasures 2 like you should've :(((((

Keep it. It's all about Tapper. I'm sure most of you haven't played it. Try the demo. It's a fantastic game.

I refuse to play any of the re-released versions of Tapper until they drop the root beer shit and go back to Budweiser.

How about you cut the shit and admit you never played the budweiser version.

You can't really blame them for going with the Root Beer version rather than the Bud one. The gameplay is the same, and thus has the same appeal in both versions, but keeping the theme Root Beer rather than its alcholic counterpart gives the game a broader audience, as many parents might object to the Budweiser branding in the original being presented to their children. Of course, most probably would not, but what do they lose by going with the Root Beer version? A small handful of arcade purists or beer enthusiasts? Not likely enough to concern them.

As for the other games, hey, more power to them. All the games have demos, and complaints about Midway not including UMK3 in an earlier compilation aside, I can't wait to get a 360 and at least TRY all the games that are available. Barbie Horse Adventure 360 downloadable demo? Sure! Bring'er down.... :)

Sucks.

They should have released MKII, Rampage: World Tour and Cruisin' USA instead.

Or, they could have offered both versions. :)

But then the real reason for not offering the real version would rear its head: they don't want to pay the licensing fee and/or Bud doesn't want to license it (but I'd stronly lean towards the former scenario). Besides, without the arcade 'tap' it really isn't the same thing :(

While its really nice that people still love defender, it is just NOT the same game without the real arcade controls. This goes for stargate and Robotron as well....

Cyberball and Root Beer Tapper?! Hell yeah!
Now that I've dated my self; I would love to see a modern tech remake of Cyberball.

Whatever happened to the Bitmap Bros rereleasing their old games onto GBA?

killer instinct was a great game, but that combo system is straight poo poo. I could imagine jumping online and getting hit with a 684 hit combo and then just signing back off again.

They won't put it there because they know this penguin would own all you fucks. And it's a proven fact people's tears short out the XBox 360 controllers.

So as a non-console owning dude, do you have to pay individually for each of these retro games, or are they part of some package? Are the the exact games (like on MAME), or recreations of them?

They are sold individually.

All Xbox Live Arcade games have trial versions available for download for free. If you want the full version, you have to purchase it with Microsoft Points (Microsoft's version of online tokens), which can be purchased online in different denominations. All Xbox Live Arcade games are much cheaper than new-title releases.

Some games are direct ports of the arcade version (Robotron, for example), while others are upgraded versions (Crystal Quest, for example).

Not if it was KI2 biznatch. I believe your experience playing me would end up being something like this. My Kim Wu reigns supreme.

It's on like Donkey Kong! We'd open that machine up every night after we closed and give us unlimited credits to kill the crap out of each other until 3 in the morning.

I remember doing that at the AMC theaters I managed many, many years ago. Ah, those were the days...unlimited credits on all the video games for myself and the hard-working employees (the slacker employees had to pay). :D

It's also a proven fact that those same tears are what fuels your dark, sinister soul, you bastard!

But yeah, you'd kick my ass at KI. I sucked at that game so bad...If they made Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 online then we'll see who'd be cryin'! :)
