Today Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest video game publishers, is pleased to announce the official release dates of the game and that it has gone gold on Xbox360™.
Ubisoft Ghost Recon Announcement (http://www.ghostrecon.com/us/newspost.php?id=14941)
GRAW has gone gold, big day for the 360! Should be out in a bit over a week on that platform, and other platforms should follow closely, except for the PC version which slipped to May.

I really wish I had the money for a 360, this and Oblivion are my launch titles.

I had no idea this was coming out so soon. I just pre-ordered to ensure I will be recieving my copy. 70 fucking dollars!!! HOLY SHIT!
Man, if only there were less people pirating Xbox 360 games, they wouldn't be so expensive!! DAMN YOU PIRATES!!!

$70 ?!?! WTF? No way. $60 I'm still grumbling. Supply 'n Demand in effect, and they just passed my price point.

59.95 + tax = 63 or so + shipping = 70
If you go in the store, you'll only be grumbling - that is, IF you can find a retail copy since most stores only carry pre-order copies and blow shit directly from their asses into the faces of the people who ask about store copies.

I like going to Walmart for games most of the time. The one right near me is open 24 hrs and they usually put the games out at midnight. None of the EB/Gamestop locations around here ever stay open late for big games.

GRAW, Blazing Angels, Burnout Revenge, Oblivion, The Outfit.
There's your goddamned kickass launch list; only 3 months late.
'Course, since you can really only find X360s on the shelf starting right about now, it's probably just as well.

Ugh, this whole $60 thing is just ludicrous. One of the reasons I'm avoiding the 360. That and the $400 price tag. I'd seriously consider getting one for Oblivion alone if everything wasn't so damn expensive.

Blazing Angels was pushed back to Q3
still, that just gives you more time to free up for the love those other games will require.
Why is the PC version going to take 2 more months when they aren't even going to bother making it look good/work without a patch?

We need a game like this to help bridge the gap to GoW and Halo 3. It looks like a serious title and I can't wait to get into it. Start studying those multiplayer maps boys and girls!

$60 for a game with no extras, LoL.
I can only picture newsgroup and torrent activity going up.
And also, no video game is worth $50 or $60. For the time you'll be playing it, it'll be worth $30 at best. Sorry, I don't care if the game costs millions to make. That's their problem.

Hmm. Was it really? According to this thread (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9866&highlight=blazing+angels), there was confusion as to whether it really was delayed. Ubisoft's fiscal quarter ends in April, according to that thread. Unless you know something we don't.
Edit: Yeah, the original article from Xbox360News.com (http://www.xbox360news.com/Blogs/News/hqs/blr_1971.aspx) has been updated to show it's still set for March 2006.

Well everyone knows the high price of games is due to piracy.
That's why EA is dropping their prices, and why the Xbox360 games are so expensive, right? right?
Oh wait, it's because games cost so much to develop. I guess those million dollar displays at E3 are to blame.

I never understand people's argument with the $60 price point. I can respect not wanting to pay more. I don't particularly like it either, but I do understand it. Yes, the cost of games factor in. However, has anyone else noticed that video games have costed virtually the same since the NES? What other product in the world has not seen some increase in price in the last 20 years? Also, let's see what you get with a game these says. Anywhere from 5 - 40 hours. And aside from the normal local multiplayer we've enjoyed, internet and LAN multiplayer has proved both to prolong games to a realm of near infinite and demanded even more manpower on the part of developers. When you compare this for time/dollar, it's a heck of a lot better than the $20 - $30 dollars you spend on a two hour movie with and hour or two of extras.

Ajguy, I've also noticed that successful videogames sell millions of copies now, instead of the hundreds of thousands a decade ago or the mere tens of thousands 2 decades ago. I've also noticed that I get a shitty sleeve with a 1 cent CD in it, with a flyer for Alienware in every tiny box, instead of the bound manual with poster and map and jewel-case I used to get.
Game publishers have been screwing the consumer for a long time, it's only recently I am forced to put up with the kids who were never around when things were good, trumpeting that they LIKE it up the ass.

Also, not to fan the flames of the price debate too much here but that $60 price point really does sting. I know it's only $10 more but I can remember quite a few times having buyers remorse over buy a game for $50. In my case something will probably have to give. I'm thinking I may be a 1 console man this generation because I just can't affort to buy all the hits on all 3 systems at that price point.

GrinR, actaully, point well taken. I mean, I have to say, I agree 100% that the price increase sucks and people like EA with their terrible publishing packages hurt the industry. But just to play devil's advocate a bit, not every game can aspire to the numbers of Halo, WoW, and even Matrix Evolutions. And I don't want it to sound like I playing the violin for games like Darwinia or the likes. I mean games like Gun, Condemned, or Kameo. Games that are very well made and just as good or better than the multi million dollar making games that are out there. Unfortunately, due to factors such as brand recognition (licensed titles, mostly EA), sequel syndrome, etc., these games have a hard time meeting those numbers and a price hike is the only way for some companies to cover the losses. It sucks, but this is what we get for bringing gaming to the mainstream where only the safe bet wins.

Well said, Ajguy. Still, that doesn't jibe with EA's recent decision to drop their prices. They are the biggest publisher AFAIK...

I think part of why they are is because they can afford to. It's the classic big business comes in and undercuts the little guy to steal market share. And PC and current gen prices are down, but I'm still a little miffed I payed $60 for a version on Tiger with less content than it's cheaper cousin.
And to put myself back on topic, some GRAW dev diaries are on XBL. I'm downloading part one now. I'm pretty stoked about this game (only recently), so hopefully it turns out good (and we get a live demo soon).

A-FUCKING-MEN GrinR. It's amazing to me that people will actually apoligize for the publishers. I for one remember the days when a game box came with a huge manual, nifty extras, and a jewel case as well. I also remember when we actually got demos for every PC game so that we could try before we bought. I bought many games I'd never heard of because of demos.
Making this more console related - games don't have to be so expensive to develope, and the answer to these rising costs isn't an increase in game prices. I'm willing to bet this will hurt sales. I for one refuse to pay that much for a title. I refuse to pay $50 most of the time for that matter.

More importantly, and I'm kind of surprised no one has brought this up yet- Why are the major publishers, the EA's and Activisions charging so much for games when they're also receiving revenues for the in-game advertising they've inundated us with in most of their A-List product recently? If I'm going to be advertised to, DON'T MAKE ME PAY FOR IT. I expect a price break, or at least the choice to buy the cheaper, ad-supported version or the more expensive advertisement free version- this idea of making money off of making money is bullshit.

And on the subject of in game advertising, I completely agree. Where is this extra revenue going? At least Anarchy Online is free because of it.

That ain't gonna happen...
"When it's done" has been the Cliffy B. quote - MS have mentioned in press junkets that it's going to be one of the titles they expect to help carry the 360 this holiday season, so figure the Thanksgiving window is the realistic expectation at this point, but it'll slip if they feel it isn't perfect.

Yeah, as you can see from the posts above I (like a few others) thought we might be waiting awhile for GoW and Halo 3. This game will be a standard part of any 360 owners library and should finally knock Halo 2 out of that top Live spot...in theory.

Um, firstly, the game has gone gold (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10228), so if not the aforementioned March 7, then soon. And secondly, Cliffy B has nothing to do with this game. That and the fact you're talking a holiday window makes it sound like you're talking about UT2007.
Edit:
Should waited an extra three seconds to click the submit button. March 9th is the official release date. (http://www.ghostrecon.com/us/newspost.php?id=14941)

I wasn't talking about Ghost Recon or UT 2007 (which Cliffy B has nothing to do with BTW)- I was responding to the person who quoted EB's website release date of March 7th as the date for Gears of War, which was a question a couple of replies further back. Sorry for the confusion- wasn't intending to derail or supply misleading info.
