9 years after the release of Diablo 2, Blizzard is still patching and fixing the game. Patch 1.13, which adds a 1 time talent respec among bug fixes and tweaks, is now live on the Public Test Realms and players can opt in to try it out. There is also a "Mystery" added to the patch to give players who have completed Hell more of a challenge beyond farming keys for Uber-Tristam!

If you're interested in opting in to try the patch out or just want to see the patch notes you can jump on over to the Battle.net forums (http://forums.battle.net/thread.html?topicId=21730644778&sid=3000).

A new Mystery has been revealed!

- Players of Hell Difficulty Realm games are hereby warned once again,
that a series of new and challenging tests await you! The answer lies
within Diablo's Bosses, which span across the world from the Den of Evil
to the Throne of Destruction...

You know what? AWESOME.

Hopefully Blizzard will continue to add some further content and tweaks as I'm sure a "Diablo 2 revival" will be inevitable once the release of 3 starts looming.

I have a couple 90 somethings (uber-smiter and lightning sorc) that I've been saving to give this patch a test. Looks like I'll be firing up D2 and running around with my Paladin smiting bosses.

You've been saving them? Lucky you Because those dicks erase your characters if you don't log in every month.

Every weekend when we do the podcast I log in and refresh the characters to make sure they don't get deleted. :)

I can't wait till people start complaining when Blizzard doesn't support one of their other games for 10 years... I mean, precedence has been set by the company, so from this point on, everyone is ENTITLED to a decade worth of support for any game Blizzard puts out. l4d2!

As long as they continue to charge above bargain bin price 10 years later... people will complain the game isn't being supported 10 years later.

Yeah, it's too bad they don't support Warcraft II like they support every other game they seem to release. Thanks for nothing, Blizzard. Looks like Rob Pardo is fucking us again!

The only patch I needed was the high-resolution mod to make playing it more visually palatable.

As long as they continue to charge above bargain bin price 10 years later... people will complain the game isn't being supported 10 years later.

Totally agreed. I got the Battle Chest for $23 at a store-closing sale. It's very hard to find it for below $30, and typically it's $39.99 at most retailers. I know...I've been waiting for years.

They don't actually erase your character unless someone else makes a character with the same name.

I've played with characters that were still around after a year or so of not logging in. You just need to use names that noone else ever will. It may say "character deleted" but you can still choose them just fine.

Beta?!?!?! When it is this old, don't they have enough time to get through the testing phase? Just kidding. Way to go Blizzard for keeping that one guy employed during the recession!

Way to go Blizzard for keeping that one guy employed during the recession!

How'd you like to be that guy when they let him go?

: hands resume to potential employer :

Potential employer: It says here you've been working on Diablo II for the past ten years.

Employee: Yes. That's right.

Potential employer: Come on. What have you been doing for the past eight years or so? Get real.

Employee: No, really. Ten years.

Potential employer: Get out.

Is this the one that adds high resolutions?

There's a mod for that. (http://classicgaming.gamespy.com/fullstory.php?id=159353) Of course, it won't work online w/Battle.net. Still very, very nice to have adjustable display settings.

I love you. You summed it up so nicely.

Frankly, they can do this because their games are still worth more than bargain bin prices, even 10 years later.

$40 for D2 and the expansion? Considering the number of hours I've spent playing D2 over the years...still a good deal.

Diablo gets harder and WoW gets easier.
