Thanks to Gamecloud (http://www.gamecloud.com) for the head's-up (http://www.gamecloud.com/article.php?article_id=3698).
Following up on earlier reports on the revival of the publisher Acclaim began to surface a few months ago, the new company with the older name has now officially announced its new presence today with its brand new web site. The new company, based in Los Angeles, is only taking the name and logo of the New York based publisher that went bankrupt in 2004 and will be bringing in Asian multiplayer games to the US market, beginning with the robot themed action game BOTS which is now taking registrations for beta testing the game that will launch later this year.
Editor's Note - You can check out the new Acclaim website by clicking here (http://www.acclaim.com).
Welcome back.

YEA! Now I hope they can hurry up and start working on the next XGRA / Xtreme G 3 game.

So....its not really Acclaim? Just like Atari isn't actually Atari?

With all the crappy movie games that have been on the market, it's just like they never left.

I was just thinking the other day about how sad it is that there hasn't been a new Army Man game out every three months for the last few years.
Oh wait...

how many companies do we need to bring asian multiplayer games over to this market?

This is analogous to putting the Chronosceptor into your mouth and pulling the trigger.

Except it's dirt cheap to do I guess.
I find it very odd that they bought the Acclaim name to do this under though. I mean, does it really enduce more trust than some well marketed new company identity would? Or is that not their nefarious purpose?

Fucking die already. You've been worthless this entire generation. You developed not one good title, and you only published a couple worth playing.

I suppose they got the name cheap... only explanation I have. A fresh upstart name would otherwise be a better business choice.

I wonder who thought that the Acclaim brand has a positive image among gamers. I instinctively assume it's crap if it's from Acclaim.

After checking the list of Acclaim's titles (http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/company/215.html), I'm all but convinced that Uwe Boll's "success" is the result of some type of cosmic void left by the absence of Acclaim. Whereas Boll produces crappy movies based on crappy video games, Acclaim published crappy video games based on crappy movies.
Think about it...
The text in the About section of the website seems like it's written by 12-year olds. If this isn't a joke, my prediction is, they go away without much fanfare, like Gizmodo and The Phantom. Or at least, that's my hope... ;)

I like how in their FAQ section they ask the same question twice.
"I am an artist, are you hiring artists for your games ?" answer is no, when they ask it again the answer is still no.
Actually overall their website is annoyingly hard to navigate.

Aww! I really LIKE the Extreme G series.
Maybe a better company will buy the rights to the game? EA got Burnout and the series lept by bounds in quality.
Acclaim has done some good things, like the Burnout series and bringing Mortal Kombat to the consoles, but that doesn't makeup for the laundry list of sins they have commited with the countless pigshit games they have brought to the market.

Aww! I really LIKE the Extreme G series.
Who actually owns the series now, though? I know a lot of those games got auctioned off. Didn't MS buy High Heat and then sell off all their sports games?
