The newest Steam News Update (http://www.steampowered.com/Steam/Marketing/February24.2006/) has some new details on the upcoming Half-Life 2 mini-Expansion pack, Half-Life 2: Episode One, and also contains a new screenshot (http://steampowered.com/Steam/Marketing/February24.2006/img/HL2_EP1_Alyx_Silhouette1.jpg).
As we've mentioned before (http://www.steampowered.com/Steam/Marketing/April15.2005/), we've been hard at work on the continuation of Half-Life 2 for some time now. Soon, as part of the upcoming Half-Life 2: Episode One, you'll find out about what happened to the Citadel after the end of HL2, what happened to your nemesis Breen, and how Alyx managed to survive the explosion at the game's end. You'll also learn a lot more about Alyx, since nearly the entire episode is spent with her at your side.
During the development of Half-Life 2, we at Valve were frustrated at how long it took us (six years!) to ship the game. With that in mind , the decision was made to try an episodic approach to the next Half-Life products, each designed to reveal new story, gameplay, and the latest Source technology in four to six hour experiences.
Over the coming weeks, we'll keep you informed about the game's status. For now, head over to Computer and Video Games site to read an interview with Valve's Robin Walker (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/r/?page=http://www.computerandvideogames.com/interviews/interviews_story.php?id=134751) about Episode One.

So, the link to the interview appears to be broken. :(
(And I don't mean you, Evil, even the link from the Steam News page is broken.)
Edit: Ahh, I see the problem. There is a steam://openurl/ at the beginning of the url for some reason. Remove that, and it works fine.

It looks familiar, but, no, I don't know what you mean. :(
Edit: Ok, after a quick Google search I now know what you mean. I would have simply said "XP", though. :p

So, just for the record, you're NOT playing as the second coming of Gordon Freeman this time, right? He's being held captive in the G-Man's briefcase at this point... right?

I think the idea is that Half-life 2 was just Half-life 2, but now they are putting out "episodic content", hence this will be the first "episode".
Kinda weird, but what are you gonna do?

Given that the hype machine seems to have started up, what with the almost weekly updates on Episode 1, I can only assume that the expected release date is soon to be announced, and the obligatory source code theft that will delay release for another year and change, will soon follow.
I know I'm excited!

This was the rumor early on about half-life aftermath which supposedly was changed to episode one without any change in substance (if you believe this I have a bridge to sell you).
However it was only just a rumor and never confirmed. From the wording of this interview it certainly appears that your not just playing Alyx but instead will be back with Gordon who will be accompied "most of the time" by Alyx. This makes sense to me since Half-life is Gordon Freeman in his radiation suit. Alyx has no suit etc.
