"Fixed crash on startup when using FAT32 file system"
Ugh.... would they have it installed on jumpdrive or something?

I could care less they are patching L4D2 because when I logged into L4D1 last night to play for the first time in months I cannot believe what a buggy mess that game has become with the 0 support it's gotten. Way to shit on your customers valve.

Left 4 Dead 1 has had over 20 updates since it released a year ago.
I don't recall it being buggy at all during any point of its life, just somewhat exploitable.

This one kind of surprised me.

It's worse than ever. I tried playing it again tonight and the game has been tweaked and bugged in the wrong direction so much it's unplayable. The game feels and plays worse than a quarter sucking arcade game of the early 90s now.

The last update for L4D1 was November 9, 2009. Check the 'latest update news' on the Steam menu. Whatever problems you are experiencing are not due to lack of support.
That's not to say it's impossible that L4D1 support in the form of patches has destabilized the game in some manner. What bugs are you experiencing, specifically?

Getting stuck on any tiny pebble and and splinter along the way were the worst ones. Stuck and stuck and stuck on any and all terrain. Gun blasts going through mobs instead of into them... ect..... I wouldn't bring this shit up if i didn't pug a ton and the people had the same complaints. It's a bit of a shock since I use to enjoy the game very much but coming back after a while makes the game seem gone to shit.

Bullets do go through people. Unless a few hit bone, but even then they could just be shattered if it's a high strength/calibre shot.
Getting 'stuck' on props is a known source engine problem that every source game experiences; else just stop walking into walls and gain spacial awareness.

Had a weird L4D2 bug last night. In Dark Carnival, Ellis kept talking about filling up Jimmy Gibb's stock car with gas, over and over and over. Annoying and funny at the same time. Don't know if it was a server problem or client, but it was happening to everyone in the game. Hopefully only a one-off thing.

Buggy mess? Really? Sounds like you're looking for problems instead of just having fun. I played L4D right up till 2 came out, and never ran into any bugs that took away from the game. Every game has it's issues, and yes the Source engine has its own problems, but seriously, take off the QA hat and put on the gamer one.

Maybe I do lok for problems. Maybe I should start writing reviews. If what I think is also joined by those in the games I participate in, then clearly I am not alone.

I think It's a simple property of devs shoving crap out the door long before it's ready. Look at the L4D2 patch notes if you need any proof.
The boycott might have done some good if gamers still had a spine.

Are you fucking kidding me? Do you even play the same the rest of us do? Your obnoxious fanboying, essentially denying the prevalent problems people-who-aren't-you experience is getting absurd.
How can you "put on your gamer hat" when you can't play because of bugs, or your play is constantly interrupted by crashing to desktop? No one is looking for problems, they encounter problems. If you don't, that is great, but being condescending to those who do is both unnecessary and ignorant.
My friends and I can barely play the game sometimes because of Source engines terrible hitbox system. Certain members of the community have taken up knowing where invisible hitboxes are as a matter of pride and skill, but really it is just a buggy and/or poorly designed engine.
But modeps and Orz just shrug off or reinterpret every bug as a non-issue or feature, much like the smoker learns to live with giant deformed testicles hanging from his chin.

I've never had issues with L4D1 (or 2 for that matter).
If the games are buggy as hell, myself and my regular playing buddies must have had some extraordinarily good luck.

Ah, well I guess if you're not having any issues, then no one else could possibly be running into any bugs or exploits. Shame on everyone! :p

Who'm I kidding? I just like feeling important. :o
Anywhoo, I owe you an apology anyways. I misunderstood the awkward phrasing of our friend lockwood. I thought he was complaining about L4D2 bugs, of which there were obviously a few. I agree with the basic sentiment that L4D was not especially buggy. At least when compared to either STALKER game. I've made my feelings regarding support for L4D clear in the past, so I hardly feel like an apologist, but I can't say I had a ton of problems with bugs or exploits in the first title.
I've yet to play the sequel for any great length, but did see a lot of clipping problems, which I'm sure will get better with patches like these.
But I did think that Fat 32 fix for the sequel was weird. As Brandon pointed out, who is installing this thing to a thumb drive? Maybe we have Windows 98 users out there trying to play L4D2 (which I'm pretty sure doesn't support DX 9)?
The amount that exploits bother you depends completely on the game modes you play, and the crowd you tend to play with. That being said, their existence is quite understandable in the context of a Co-Op game of this calibur. Put enough zombies on screen, and something's bound to muck up.

My issue was I played the game after months and months of not playing it. it feels different, plays different, and I've noticed several graphical and model/clipping bugs. L4D1 is the not the game I paid for at release. It's worse and the lack of valve support doesn't help at all since they have moved on.

I tired to play yesterday, simply so I could do a little experiment and try see what the differences are between the two games, but I couldn't find a server that wasn't populated with a bunch of little kids. It was weird ... I jumped to a couple servers and they all sounded like the XBox Live Kid & Chocolate Milk video clip, or that Hobbs vent audio.
Maybe L4D2 is still two new, and that's where everyone was at, but I hope the population balances across the two games in a few months. I LOVE both games so far, and down the road I easily see myself playing either. What would be really cool is an integrated launcher or front-end for both games.
The Chocolate Milk video, (www.youtube.com/watch?v=haSGAf7lvR0) if you didn't get the reference.
Hobbs on Vent. (www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mkhx7mkMXa8) "I bet she has milk coming out of her nipples she's so horny." If you've never heard this you need to listen to it.
