Yesterday I reported (http://evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=101262) MGS:PW's UK and Japan release date and now I'm happy to bring you the US release date: May 25th, 2010.
Snake's '70s era sneak attack will hit North American PSPs just a few days before Europe gets a crack at it, more than two months after the game launches in Japan. The follow-up to Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater features an original scenario from Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima and a "unique new game system designed specifically with the PSP in mind," according to Konami.
Thanks Kotaku (http://kotaku.com/5419174/metal-gear-solid-peace-walker-dated-for-north-america) and modeps.

I know Kojima wanted to stop making Metal Gear games right around MGS2. He made several statements about it. Then he just kept going and I haven't heard a thing about him complaining about making metal gear after metal gear for the rest of his life. I'm pretty sure he's already had the complete mental breakdown and they keep him strapped to a chair with pen and paper trading him ideas and critiques for cheese and crackers >_>

The reason Kojima stays on Metal Gear Solid is because he doesn't have faith in his team that they can venture on their own.
1UP: How did the development of MGS4 pan out for you, since over the years you've kept talking about how you want to share more of your responsibilities with other team members?
HK: That was one of the mistakes in the end. Because I thought that leaving things up to the team members and giving them more responsibility was the only way for them to grow, sometimes that sort of sacrifice can be too much, and in this case it was. Nothing good came of giving them more responsibility. I'm not saying the staff were slackers -- definitely not -- they were working really hard. But it was about the decisions they made.
If I were working on the project and I could experiment [with] a lot of things...how shall I put this...if I think the experiment isn't working, I'll change the story or the sequence and basically just take a different route. Making that sort of decision was probably a bigger barrier for the staff than I thought it would be. They sometimes worked really hard while going in the wrong direction -- if I had been in that position, I would have known better and recognized that it wasn't working. But they wouldn't stop -- they'd keep at it. And I should have stepped in to say that it wasn't going to work. That was my mistake, and looking back, I should have done better.

I would like to just make a new game...I want to create something new, and it's difficult to explain since no one's seen it before. I don't know if it would sell very well. I've been warming this up for a long time, and I keep thinking that I'll try this idea. But ideas always change, so I really don't know what the final outcome will be.
- The guy's been saying that for over a decade now. I say do it, Kojima-san!
But, as for his mismanagement, I think he just has a flawed idea of management. From his description, he's not handling that situation well. He says staff wasn't making the right decisions, etc., well to fix that you don't jump in and do it yourself but you help them make the decision, etc. Meh. I know it's his baby and it can be tough to let go.
