I typically don't post announcements of announcements as news, because generally it's pretty stupid to... however I'm giddy like a schoolgirl so I can't help this one. PlanetMule (http://www.planetmule.com/countdown/) (via Blue (http://www.bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/board.pl?action=viewstory&threadid=104939)) has a countdown going on right now, as well as some pretty slick looking artwork that looks a whole lot like remade characters from the original M.U.L.E. game that was released in 1983. There's a message at the base of the page letting everyone know that on Saturday evening, something's goin' down.
Colonization starts: 6 December, 00:00:00 UTC
Over on OzarkSoftScape (http://www.ozarksoftscape.com/5252.html), there's a pretty ominous blurb indicating that some sort of online version of M.U.L.E. may be coming.
We have looked for nearly a year to find the right person with a passion for the game and respect for Dad and Ozark to work on a new MULE release for the internet. The time is here. We hope you enjoy it.
If you haven't played the original M.U.L.E., you're truly missing out. Quite a revolutionary game and certainly worthy of the accolades it has received over the years. I remember being able to hook 4 joysticks up to my Atari 800 and play against my whole family. Eventually, they started to get annoyed by my tricks at auction and wouldn't play with me anymore, but hey... you gotta be cutthroat when dealing with supplies on alien planets.
