Long time Evil Avatar.com reader GunnyMo (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/member.php?u=264) sends along word that he has placed some very interesting video game collectables up for auction on Ebay (http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZcollectablemo), with the final proceeds (minus those pesky Ebay and PayPal fees) to go toward his finally getting one of those fancy Pumpkin Orange Subscriber Nametags.

He has some great stuff up there now, including one of those oversize Halo 2 display boxes and a really cool Brothers in Arms display standee. There will be more to come, including over a hundred video game strategy guides.

(Though if I find out he is selling any of the guides I wrote, I'm changing his Orange Subscriber Nametag to Hot Pink.)

Enjoy!

This seems like a much better forum post than a news one.

When you have been a site member and reader for as long as GunnyMo, you will find that when you have a website or an event that you wish to promote on Evil Avatar.com, that myself and the other staff members will do our best to accomodate you.

Thus, this post and the many posts about the Apex Science Fiction & Horror digest and the book publications from Permuted Press (and everything Ensemble Studios sends across my desk).

I think we can make room in our schedule for a few unique video game auction items, Yes?

It happens more with light beers. I could murder a Guiness right now!

Seriously...

You can get all that stuff for free by asking for it at your local retailer. They'll write your name and phone number on the back and call you when the promo is up to come and get it. Otherwise they just throw that stuff out.

What about the people who tried to do just that but were beaten to it? Sucks for them? At lease this way they have a chance of owning something they wanted in the first place.

Plus, the money gained is going to a good cause. :)

Oh, I'm not denying that, but billing cardboard standees from games from the last year or two as "some very interesting video game collectables" is kind of dissapointing. I was expecting Castlevania brand snack cakes or the Mario Kart flat tire kit, just something a little less ordinary.

I made sure to not sell any of your authored guides, Evil. Well, at least until you have autographed them. ;)

Wow, I'm suprised at all the whiners about this. Sure it's promo stuff but since it's well over a year or two old on most of it I'd like to see you find it in a dumpster. And, as Fit said, the proceeds are going to support this site so you (the whiner) can continue to be the flamebait you are. :D

I will also say these are just the first of many. I'll be sure to cancel any bids you make on anything of "collectable" value. :p We wouldn't want you to sully yourself.

I guess it depends on a person's preference then. What you deem interesting (Castlevania-brand snack cakes) may be nothing more than pish-flaps to someone else. :)

Bah, why do people feel the need to complain about a front page post like this. Evil Av is more than just a news site, it's a community. Something fun like this is perfect for a weekend, when news is scarce.

I never did understand why idiots whine about stuff like this. If they owned their own site, they'd do genuinely stupid things on it, rather than interesting off-the-wall stuff that makes the site worth visiting.
I actually like to see stuff that doesn't have to do with the same old bland news I can get on 15 other sites. That's why I COME to Evil Avatar's website in the first place and that's why I donated to the site myself.
If this site loses it's originality, sells out to some bastardized site like UGO or IGN, then I'm going to be pissed off and regret donating to it.
Oh and just so you know, Evil Avatar, if you need more money to keep the above B.S. from happening to this site, you just send me an email.

Maybe Gamestop but I used to work at Toys R Us and items like this were claimed by employees well before they hit the floor. There were so many disputes that eventually we'd have to do random drawings for the better stuff.

Makes me want to start putting up my own stuff...

I'm about to sell out to both UGO and IGN. Will you send me a check to keep that from happening?? :D

If an auction winner is a registered member of the EA community I will ship anywhere in the world (applicable shipping fees, of course).

I just listed a number of other items (perhaps more "collectable" for the picky ones) including quite a few McFarlane figures from years past, Legend of Mana strat guide, a Turbo Grafx 16 and NWN collector's edition. More items will most likely be added daily.

It seems to take Ebay a couple hours to get the new stuff up so be patient.

Mmm, NWN Collector's Edition. Can't remember why I didn't buy that when it hit, I'm usually a sucker for Collector's Editions of games I really like, assuming they at least come with a soundtrack and some actual collectable junk. But I already own two copies of the game...
