Two Nintendo DS Colors Pushed Back For Japan Launch

Nintendo announced today a delay in the Japanese release of two color variations of the DS Lite. While the Crystal White color will launch throughout Japan as scheduled on 3/2, the release of Ice Blue and Navy Blue has been pushed back to 3/11.

I prefer the crystal white anyway, it's a distinct contrast to the matt black PSP.

Yeh... I re-checked and cancelled my pre-order. I'll probably regret it later but apparently the US versions will be launching in may or so... I can handle playing the regular one, for now.

I've been thinking of pre-ordering one seeing as the Nintendo reps said that it doesn't have a NA release in the forseeable future. Would the Japanese one be the same as a normal DS?

People "in the know" say that it will be released in the States around the same time as the new Mario, which is May, so I think you're pretty safe with a preorder.

Yep. All Nintendo handhelds are region-free.

I've noticed more companies have realized they too can profit off Apple-whores such as myself.

I like the navy one but it will probably show fingerprint smudges far more than the white one. Say what you will about the apple look, the white plastic has the dual benifit of looking slick as well as hiding fingerprints well. Navy looks nice but I have my doubts about the smudgeablity of it.

Curious: Is anyone actually getting the baby-blue one?

I think the Ice Blue one is going to have the least sales of the three.

Man, good thing I didn't pre order an Enamel Navy. I will be playing Ouendan on a DSLite in no time :)
