View Full Version : Weekend Gamer - What are you playing?

I will be playing work this weekend. Lots of it to do and get caught up in. Otherwise I plan on continuing Silent Storm - a squad turn based WW2 game. This is a game where you need to plan your moves. I am enjoying it, but it is not a quick game. Also the usual suspects, WoW and CoH. What are you playing this weekend?

NOTHING

Reason?

Obligatory Microsoft Business Solutions Certified Professional–Axapta 3.0 Installation & Configuration Exam (VUE Exam #AX 30-206, Prometric Exam #MB6-206) on Monday - if I pass it they will raise my salary, if I don't they won't.

70 questions, 90 minutes - you have to get 50 to pass.

I'm fuck nervous at the moment.

Also NOTHING!

Reason?

UCLA decided this was a good weekend to shaft me with the most work I have ever had. I am soo doomed.

pub trivia this sunday night. it's week 8 of a 12 week tournament, the winner gets free drinks and a limo to pub-hop for the night. my team is one of the top teams, and we have a real shot of winning this thing!

other than that, i'll probably play some 'you don't know jack', and watch all the A&E Biographies and VH1's I love the 80s shows as i can to prep for sunday.

Lots of WoW and some RE4. Maybe a few hours of Tales of Legendia as well. Haven't given that one the attention it deserves. Might try out Empire at War this weekend as well, depending on what kind of time I have left. And, as always, I'll be playing the keep my girlfriend happy game. Good times.

Just re-installed Ghost Recon (the first, no expansions, even though I’ve got them).

Have to admit though that I feel a bit guilty since only I, chazio,King Chaos and LilBunnyFuFu are having all the fun. :(

Well this weekend for me its...

Star Wars Empire at War.

I'm out of town all next week. I'm taking my 360 and Dell 20" monitor with me though. So I won't be bored next week. I hope to brush up on a few games being all alone in the hotel room. I bought a little 360 VGA cable phonos to 3.5mm stereo jack converter and plugged it into my Creative powered travel speakers. I tested it out all last night on a PGR3 marathon over XBL. Works great.

I was very relieved. Otherwise I'd have been quite bored watching TV

NFS:MW.
Condemned.
XBL Arcade titles. Hope to beat my pathetic 275k on GW.

It'll keep the week away bearable and i'll get a few gamer points coming in.

Damn no Evil Avatar all next week :(

I bet shit loads will happen.

*cries*

I'm playing the 'pack everything you own and drive across the entire U.S. from San Diego to upstate New York so you can go to Culinary School' game not only this weekend but all the way to next Friday when I should arrive. That's like a scary long time without a PC. Guess I'll have to depend on my GBA and it's lackluster selection of games to get me by.

w00t! New York (and god-damned snowy weather) here I come!

Geometry Wars RE... i *need* to score over 600k this weekend (current highscore is only 570,000.) If I don't then I'll probably drop out of the top 8000 players and back into the 9000's by the end of the week ;)

I might complete PGR3 as well while Im at it. I cant believe how small that game is compared to the second and first. Ah well.

I've just finished "The Milkman Conspiracy" in Psychonauts and I'm already having panic attacks about what I'm going to do once I've finished the game. From looking at previews of what's upcoming, this is going to be my last "this gen" game :(

Not much this weekend. I've beaten most of my 360 games but I just can't bear to go back to Perfect Dark, so I might see what's left over in my DS collection to finish. I may end up picking up something new.

Well, got a copy of Windows XP yesterday for the PC I built on Tuesday. It's shit-hot, I can run F.E.A.R. at very high settings and at 1280x1024 with no stuttering and Half-life 2 cranked all the way up.

Went out and bought CoV: CE today, and I'm having a blast with that. It's like CoH was back when it was fun :) Plus, with the new PC I can crank the graphics, and I no longer have to deal with the dumbass lighting bug that made everything pink on my old ATI 9700. Thank you nVidia. Made a Robot/FF Mastermind and a Fire/Fire Brute. The Brute is fucking awesome, and I have a nice little backstory for him that I'm going to type up sometime this weekend.

Here is a screenshot of my Brute:

Just got over a cold in time to allow me to catch up with some gaming this weekend.
Trying to get into Warcraft 3 although I never really liked it when it first came out.
At the same time trying out the Winter Assault demo though I don't know why. I've really gone off RTS games lately, they're all just so damn similar. Gameplay hasn't changed since AoE.

I will be playing work this weekend.

Watch out.
The level boss is really hard.
There are cheats, but it'll just spoil the game.

For my part, I think I'll finish stuff. Call of Cthulhu, Meier's Pirates and Ninja Gaiden.

Im overloaded with new games right now, so im playing a few minutes of each here and there. In the end is a crappy crappy way to play :)

But...

PSP: XMen Legends 2 ( my bathroom break game )
X360: NFS:MW, CoD2 and wayyyyy to much GW
PC: X3, Guildwars and Gothic 2 ( not installed yet ).

I recently quit smoking so I picked up lots of games to keep me distracted. Too many games at once really isnt a good idea.

Oh, and im rather disappointed with X3 sofar :( Was a fan of X2, but something about 3 just isnt doing it for me. Plus, its the first @$@#ing game ive had to go online to find an FAQ to figure out just what the hell I was supposed to be doing... in the first mission!

More AC:WW of course. Trying to get through PoP:Sands of Time. Yeah, I'm a few years too late on that one, but I figured it's one of those I "ought to play." I've been trying to get through some older games, so I may do something random like Wipeout Fusion or Frequency. It feels good to pick up a game you bought years ago and haven't played. Frequency is still in the shrink wrap. ^^

After grinding a lvl 60 Shaman and taking a 3 month break, I decided to start a Warlock on a pvp server. It's a pretty cool class.

Tonight, I'm going to play some Battlefield 2 with a few friends. There's nothing like having a tight squad of friends in that game.... or in WoW for that matter. ;)

I'm getting to the point where I have no interest in single-player games. Playing with friends online is so much more fun for me.

I think I'll install Morrowind on the new PC and download a bunch of mods. I might play a bit of FEAR, too, but playing it makes me sort of dizzy. I don't usually have trouble with FPS's, but something about FEAR's framerate or perspective... I don't know what causes it, I'm no doctor. Heh. At least it's not as bad as Half-Life - I got so motion sick I literally couldn't play it. (Still bitter about that!)

Perigon, Gotta love COV, and some of the oddities of characters. What server did you pick anyways? If you stuck with virtue, let me know and I'll send some infamy your way to help you start out.

For me, maybe Ill try some of the fight night 360 online (The game is just hilarious, great rental so far) but who am I kidding. I'm hooked on Monster Hunter 2, best game I've played on the ps2. (For sheer time and fun value, There are better games in other categories, like the revered Psychonauts)

I'll probably be playing a lot of Ico. I spent most of my day off yesterday playing it and I'm hooked. I may put in some more hours on Jack 3, which I managed to pick up real cheap at our local Sam Goody (they're closing, so that means cheap CDs movies and games). I still need to pick up PoP 3 sometime soon. Also considering investing in Grandia 3.

Other than that all my Xbox 360 games, Kameo, PGR3, PD0, NHL 2K6.

ZOMG. Get it, endure the initial learning curve (not bad at all if you liked Jagged Alliance), and fall in love completely (until you get to the part that everyone hated).

Seriously. Get it.

I did indeed stick with Virtue. My Brute is named Idolatry, and my Masterind is name Azure Mechanicus. Really loving the ragdoll effects they put in, it can lead to some pretty fun stuff. If you happen to know of some good RP groups for villains, I'd be interested to hear about them.

Also, Fight Night is neat, but I found that the combat wasn't that engaging. The graphics are top notch though, and it seems like something that could be fun if you're really into boxing. Personally, I'll just stick with Mike Tyson's Punch-out or Teleroboxer (that's right, I still play my Virtual Boy.)

As long as I'm fighting someone else and not the computer. 2player, the game is stellar, its a perfect game for when some buds are over to help enjoy the unique physics of facial reconstruction. Haven't tried it on Live yet, but I'll give that a spin soon enough. As for GalCiv 2, Yup, Ill try to play it, but... Monster hunter.. so... addictive.

I really want to play BF2, but it seems almost every server I join either has the squad leader flying around (Jackass) or no squads at all. :( Also whats up with the lack of leadership? No attack targets, no defend points...Its such a goddamn waste.

Its so damn frustrating to have such a great teamplay game with only one side as a team.

i want Grandia III but the whole "Second disk" tragedy spreading like wildfire has swayed my interest
What what WHAT!?! I hope that tragedy is that the story fizzles up on the second disc, not that there is some nasty bug on the second disc...

I finally finished up Dragon Quest 8 last Monday (although I still have to do the bonus dungeon) and after 90+ hours of that game, I think I need a break from new JRPG's for at least a week. I did fire up Grandia 3, but I basically watched the intro movie and got to the first gameplay section and thought, "Wow, those are some nice graphics!" and turned it off. I'll put some real time into it next week or so.

I've been away from my computer (and Baby Spig) most of the week enjoying something of a second honeymoon (which, much to my wife's chagrin, involved me visiting almost every single comic shop in the Downtown Toronto core). Alas, that meant no games for a good 2-3 days PLUS no access to Evil Avatar since Tuesday. Thankfully I'm home and can both game and see what exciting news has been happening while I was away.

This weekend, I'll be playing:

Chibi-Robo and the REmake for the Cube
(Kelegacy, if you are kind of burned out on other games, I highly recommend giving Chibi-Robo a try. It's incredibly fun and surreal... right up your alley)
AC:WW, M&L:PiT, Meteos and maybe FFIV Advanced on the DS

One of those Geometry Wars clones if I can get it to run properly on this hunk of junk computer my father-in-law insists on using.

That's about it. I have a huge stack of comics waiting for me to finish reading when I get home, but in the meantime I'll just play whatever I brought down with me and hang out with my son, since he hasn't seen me since Monday.

Oh, and if you get a chance to see the Lord of the Rings musical, I highly recommend it. Just saw it last night and it was fantastic. Just ignore the idiots who may be behind you and don't think that the scouring of the Shire was in the books because it wasn't in the movies (slap!).

Why don't you try being the squad leader for a change? That's a typical problem in that game; everyone wants to be in a squad but no one wants to be the commander.

Full Auto for me. If I knew the game was this good I would have bought it instead of renting it. By the way, why have 90% of the reviews for it been so negative? Sure it slows down occasionally, but I find myself laughing hysterically when I launch a rocket into every building and stare at awe at the destruction. The only review that seems "decent" is the 1Up/EGM review. Personally, I would give it a 89%.
