View Full Version : TES4: Oblivion Video Interview with Pete Hines
New Gaming Radio (http://newgamingradio.com) has just released a new video interview with Pete Hines. From the site:
As a disclaimer, the video was scheduled at the very last minute and I originally didn't even intend on doing a video interview. The video camera was brought simply so I'd have an additional audio source incase my cassette tape recorder didn't get a good feed. The sound quality is pretty sharp except for when the heat is on at the hotel. Most of the questions were taken from the official forum thread I made and in total I had over 87 to look through. I tried to pick the best of the bunch so give it a listen and let me know what you think.
Grab it from file front here (http://files.filefront.com/oblivion_interview_ngrcom_300kavi/;4799208;;/fileinfo.html).
Highlights include new info on Telekinesis, the 'Arcane University', and Pete making a fart noise with his lips.

Yup.
The most intruiging part I noticed was when pete said something (on the issue of not spoiling the whole game) along the lines of "And i dont want you guys to say, oh look, its just like pete said it would be a month-er two months ago". He seemed to catch himself after he said 'a month' and then gave a face that, to me, translated as 'whups'. Loose proof indeed, but we can all hope for a march release.

Man I wish I could be excited about this as you guys are, but I found the first one (wich came with my Radeon 9800 AIW a few years ago) very boring, I just got off the ship and started talking to people, and later.. bah I cant even remeber, it was so dull and lifeless, maybe I just didnt put any effort on the game or perhaps I just hate it the whole Medieval-Dungeons and Dragons-type Universe, but I guess I can give the demo a try, but so far.. meh...

I really want this game. The idea of it is just so amazing to me. Then again I sort of despise Morrowind. I keep going back to it, only to get burned time and again by all of the errors and problems in the game. Then after a few months I am back again. Cycle continues. I still really want this game though, but my PC can't run it and I'm not wasting money on a 360 to play it.
In short.... :(

Arena newb
edit VV I think the point I was making was 'Arena was the first ES game' dude.
Also, it's good to see that some people remember that you can't play a game without writing a batch file for it.

Arena came out in 1995, n00b. Try Morrowind.
And before you counter by pointing out Morrowind was the third Elder Scrolls game, do you really think someone who found it boring would care? It's basically "Morrowind 2: Oblivion" for everyone who doesn't know what EMM386.EXE is. :p

That was a painful interview. I don't want to be negative because I'm glad its more info for a game I enjoy hearing about, but where's the probing questions? I mean I was really holding my breath about the whole, "Does the water splash if you drop things in it?" but can we get some more questions that probe into the quality of the game rather than tedious detail questions.

The fact that you would refer to a world so alien as Morrowind's as 'Medieval' or 'Dungeons and Dragons' makes me think you just don't care for the fantasy genre, in which case, no, I doubt you'll enjoy any fantasy game of any kind.
